Why does your hear rate go up when in SP?

When I'm ever awake during a SP by heart rate and breathing rate go up and I'm always afraid that I'm gonna die or something. Why is this and can't be stopped or changed?

It's usually a hallucination (I'm not sure why a rapid heartbeat is a common hallucination out of so many other possible ones), unless you happen to get very excited or scared while in SP. It's nothing to worry about.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Yea I dont think its anything bad. I get it all time, and most of the time its just a hallucination or I am freaked out from a scary sp experience.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

Decided to move this to the Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams (WILD) subforum.

This same thing happens to me too, and I always wondered why it kept happening, I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with how excited you are or how nervous you may be, and also simple because your awake but unable to move, its a scary thing until you get used to the sensation. For me however, whenever I do WILD's, I'm never in SP long, I first notice the vibrations and then the paralysis kicks in and seconds later im usually in a LD.

Same, also if it is a HH, breathing deeper will not help it go away, you can try listening in to the noise and it should increase if it is a HH, then you should welcome it as it will help transition.

I think also it has something to do with your attention switching to internal. As I'm sat here typing, I can't hear my heartbeat at all, there's all this ambient noise from the external world. When you hit sp you're much more aware of the sounds of your body.
