      Was this a WILD?

      Hello everyone,

I've been attempting to WILD on and off for a good month or so, and I think I may have had a successful attempt this morning. I woke up from a non-lucid dream and was mad that I had missed an obvious dream sign, so I decided to try and get back into it. I tried to use a visual of walking while looking straight down to keep things simple. I began to walk up a flight of stairs and all of the sudden my awareness had moved into this visual! It was tough to control my body at first, but after a bit of stabilizing (stomping + clapping) I was able to get used to my limbs. I started to walk around and investigate my surroundings, but was woken up by a loud saw outside.

I was intrigued by what had just happened, so I decided to try the same thing again. This time I used the stairwell in my own house, and it worked again. I stabilized and started to inspect the rooms and whatnot. I was awoken by the same saw a few minutes in. I tried yet again with the stairs in my friends house and, lo and behold, the same exact thing happened! As well as being awakened by that annoying saw...

Was this a WILD? I'm not entirely sure what to make of it, but it took so much less effort and time that any other time I've attempted a WILD. It surprised me how easy it was to enter this "dream" state.

If you didn't move when you woke up from a regular dream, than it was a DEILD, which is a short WILD. Short, because you are already primed for LD, no need to wait for it as with WILD. So good job

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification

So a DEILD is a WILD with a specified intent, whereas with an actual WILD there is no intent set beforehand?

I wouldn't say specified intent. That implies a goal or task to achieve.

When you have a DEILD (Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream) you briefly achieve awareness at the end of a dream but by remaining motionless and sleepy you enter back into the dream state, sometimes falling back into the same dream.

A WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) you fall asleep or into a dream state while retaining awareness. This feeling of lucidity transfers into your dream and allows you to become aware of the dream state.

No matter which technique applies as long as you are aware of being in a dream you achieve success.

It was awful I felt like a villain that finally got a taste of success, only to be thwarted shortly after!

Okie. I like the way you look at it; an LD is an LD. I guess it really doesn't matter how it happens!
