The sensations tend to wary a lot, so there is nothing wrong with not seeing HI though the entire process. As long as your falling asleep while maintaining awareness, you're on the right track.

I have an educated guess about the snapping, partly based on my own experience; As the sleeping process is divided into 4 stages, there are transitions between each of them, the first ones often go unnoticed (which is a good sign ftr). To pass through to a stage (meaning go deeper), you have to be in the right mindset or you'll snap out.

The easiest way to be in the right mindset to pass through is to be as sleepy/dreamy as possible, holding on to minimum avareness. The only risk involved in this is losing consiousness... which is better than staying awake. After some trial and error, adding a bit of awareness with each WILD-attempt, you'll finally pass through to REM aware.

      Good Luck, Tucane
