      I can't achieve lucidity. I need help!

Alright, I've been trying to achieve lucidity every night for 3 months. I have only Lucid Dreamed once before, and it was unintentional. So I know what it's like, and it makes me very anxious to achieve it. Here is what I do:

      1. get in bed, relax for 10 minutes by taking deep breaths.
      2. I close my eyes and lay still in a comfortable position, usually for (what appears to be) ---10-15 minutes.
      3. I know I haven't entered SP, so I roll over to my side, without opening my eyes and do the same again.

      Now here are my problems:

      1. Either I get bored and say "Ah, fuck it" or I fall asleep.

Could anyone tell me why I cannot achieve SP even after not moving for 10-15 minutes? Is swallowing fine? Is it fine to lick my lips?

      Hi KingCanadian, welcome to DreamViews!

You're attempting to WILD, which tends to be a lot easier if you've already been asleep (preferably for about 6 hours), wake yourself up, and consciously induce sleep paralysis before falling back asleep again. Check out the tutorials and wiki pages for more information on the best way to do it.

Have you considered alternative techniques? I've never been able to WILD successfully (not that I've tried much), but I've recently had promising success with DILDs. Are you keeping a dream journal? Are you practicing awareness during the day? Do you meditate? All these things can help, and I've found are a much better way to start on the path to mastering lucid dreaming.

I have thought about DILD'ing. Though, I'm not too confident that I will be able to wake up during the night, I can't really wake up with an alarm clock. If it does happen, though, I will make sure to attempt it

Is it guaranteed that if I lay still for long enough I will achieve SP, though? Once I was extremely tired and I didn't want to fall asleep so, when I was going to fall asleep, I kept opening my eyes to wake up. One time, though, I waited too long to open them, and I was in a Lucid Dream!

DILDing doesn't require waking up. It's simply a product of your critical awareness, which can be cultivated in your waking life (and which also has additional benefits), and can be simplified to this:

      1. Something unrealistic happens in a dream
      2. You have good enough critical awareness, or, in other words, common sense to notice that it is in fact unrealistic
      3. You conclude that you must be dreaming

Try asking yourself multiple times a day whether you are dreaming (and I mean sincerely asking, not simply repeating the question arbitrarily) and with enough motivation, this routine will make its way into your dreams and you'll become lucid as if by magic!

No. WILDing is a mental process. Not physical. A WILD is successful when you are able to reach and maintain the proper mindset.

Here is the best WILD explanation on the site. WILD (Sageous)

      True that ^^

I highly recommend reading through Sageous' WILD class. I've taken it a few months ago, and it really helped.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
