      WILD Help

Ive been trying to lucid dream for a few weeks now and I recently have been trying to WILD. One of my problems is that I never feel sleep paralysis hit. There have been times where I have been laying still for over 30 minutes. Is it because I am sometimes concerned about swallowing? What should I do when I need to swallow?
There was one attempt where my entire body felt really light. Almost like I was floating. Is this an onset to sleep paralysis or what? Most of my attempts have been in the afternoon.
I just need help with this I really want to WILD. Also when do you start to see HH? I usually just see blotches of lighter colors fading in and out in front of my eyes. Is that HH?

Honestly, SP is not the objective here. SP is always the concerning factor for many newcomers when it comes to WILDing, but it should not be something you have to experience to "feel" as if you're WILDing. You should focus on maintaining awareness, just enough that you can still fall asleep easily.

Contemplating on when SP occurs will be a detriment to your success. Focus on trying to maintain a level of awareness instead, and how you go about doing that, there's several ways you can use anchors to keep yourself aware as you're drifting into sleep.

Check this guide made by Mzzkc,

      http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/sleep-...tified-131380/

And there's also a thread that seems to be in a prototype-stage for clearing the misconceptions of SP and WILDing in the "Attaining Lucidity" WILD section.

Also, the same goes for HH, do not focus on seeing it coming, and if it does come, just let it come naturally, but do not expect it to be the sure sign you're WILDing "properly."

      Agreed with Linkzelda.

SP is not part of WILDing. And stuff going on on the back of your closed eyelids - that's a good place to be looking and paying attention to. You may see swirls of grey and black, they may form images later or dreamlets, but not always. The whole process is quite complex. It's best to educate yourself about it, so you know what to expect. There is a WILD class in DV. You can just read the material and then if you want, you can post your progress to get personalized guidance. Happy dreams

Swallowing: Do swallow. Do it naturally and before it becomes a thought. You do not have to be rigidly still. You do not need to act as if you are frozen.

The biggest thing that needs to be made clear is this: You are trying to fall asleep!

It is a complex balencing act. You MUST be able to fall asleep. However, you must learn the new and strange skill of maintaining some level of awareness while sleeping.

Two methods exist as far as how this can happen. In one you just fall asleep and need to be on the verge of a dream. You just pay attention and hope that you enter a dream while partialy aware. Second, learn to use meditation type mental tricks and actually learn to stay aware while asleep.

In the first you either make it or you do not, and little special skill is needed. The second style is a truely advanced skill. in those kinds of WILD you must learn how to fall asleep and still be aware. in that style you can hang around asleep, but aware, as long as you are able, even an hour or more and wait for a dream to happen.

This is why people do WILD after many hours of sleep. The stages of sleep make a difference on wether you dream or not. You are much more likely to dream after hours of sleep. the first method will almost never work at bedtime; you fall asleep and in the few minutes of partial awareness nothing happens. the second method may require you to stay aware for over an hour to get into a dream. So, if you want to WILD, you should wake up after say 6 hours of sleep and try it then.

The second type will probably have HH because you are asleep and observing at the same time.

Both have one clear thing in common, you must fall asleep. If you are really uncomfortable (like not swallowing) sleep will not happen. If you are just laying still and thinking about homework, daily stress, what you should do tomorrow, then you will likely not fall asleep. that is why people do things like repeat the same words over and over, or count to 10 over and over. You need something to keep you aware, but it should not be something that keeps you awake.
