      Dream vividness?

How can I improve vividness of dreams? I guess it just comes with better recall?

What has worked wonders for me, is I guess what could be considered meditation. I will lay down, or lay back, just relax, and I'll go through the relaxation steps I do before sleep each night, then I try to visualize on my own (even though it is best if the visions just come, but I try to stay away from sleep paralysis when I'm doing this since it's usually in the middle of the day). But what I found out, since I'm literally just trying to work on my visualization and not my lucid dreaming, is I'll listen to music while I do this so I won't slip into sleep (again it's the middle of the day and a nap for someone like me would keep me up later), and whatever music I decide on, creates a mood that I associate with it, and I visualize a scene for it.

But the way I start my visualization is with any of my other senses first, then the other and the other, before actually trying to see it. Like I have a "love" music session set up, so I'll put the headphones on, blast the music so I can't hear anything else (sometimes even after the headphones come off) and I imagine smelling the perfume of a woman, then I'll imagine hearing footsteps as we draw near, then I'll imagine feeling the texture of her clothing/skin/hair, then I'll imagine feeling her lips, tasting her tongue, so on and so on, and then before I know it, I can see her and the scene continues to play out, and I'm telling you what happens next.

But I also have a "fight" "hypnotic" and "randomness" music playlists as well, and with each comes a whole different kind of scene to imagine. But after I started doing this, my dreams have not only become a hell of a lot more lifelike, they've grown a HELL of a lot longer. Like the one I had last night, the damn thing took place over like two days it seemed, all the same characters, same plot, same everything, and it was all lifelike and didn't really have any breaks in it. Then again, I think that was the only dream I had, but Jesus it was a long ass dream!

If you're talking about lucid dreams then I would reccomend you do stabilizing and verbal commands. If yyou find that your vision is blurry in a dream you need to realize, theres no reason for it to be so, you are the dreamer, and your dream should be vivid. You need to stabilize by engaging your five senses into the dream, and also command things like "increase vivdness" etc. If you are talking about non lucid dreams and just plain vividness, I think you have the answer, improve your recall and you will remember more of the dream and the dream will feel longer, more of your senses will be engaged in the dream and it will in turn feel "vivid"

      Red face

Meditation and the Awareness Walk tutorial somewhere around here. Basically you want to be present-minded and fully conscious in waking life, and this will allow you to be present-minded and fully conscious in dreaming life. Since I started meditating and doing the awareness walk my dreams have gotten so detailed that its very hard for me to tell the level of detail apart from a regular or lucid dream.

Also remember, record your dreams! Names, songs, song lyrics, etc. first, then visual details. The same way you work on becoming fully conscious. Start with what is the least dominant. Visuals are usually the most dominant. To attain full consciousness in waking life I start with the least dominant senses: sound, then what I feel, then what I smell, then what I taste, then what I see.

Also remember to record any feelings you had after your dream, and if possible any before. Disregard anything else you have written down after the first three or four. Those first few, the ones that came out the quickest as you recorded your dream, and true and accurate. Anything after these may be your conscious mind playing word games.
