Sounds good, OP - The Counsellor goes on the list - together with No Country for Old Men, which my husband told me, is a great movie - and he is quite trustworthy there for me - very picky.
Yeah - Peaceful Warrior was cheesy, sure enough - but much less, than I expected - and it also didn't contain overly much substance.
Interesting, that you say the book is so much better there - you even used it's concepts to pull a feat like stopping to smoke!
Phantastic - congratulation - might take a peek in it at some point..

Edit: OP - did you watch The Hours? One of my favourite movies of all - and on the motive of bipolarity.

Repentance......it was an OKAY thriller/horror...the end was kinda like who did what? 3/5

Divorce Corp- a documentary about divorce in usa. Pretty messed up system...i don't know if Canada is the same, making divorce very hard to do "no matter" what the situation is you got to pay lots of money to go through it??? SMH.

Usa and Canada has similar laws, as which most countries if you have a child involved and cannot agree on terms. The quickest and easiest way to divorce is if both agree to terms dealing with custody, support, access and property etc etc. Meaning making a seperation contract, if not then its longer divorce proceedings and more costly because a judge would have to make the decisions. But if its an international marriage than it becomes a lot more difficult and costly and longer. Its best if both parties agree on everything to advoid court then it would only take 6 months to divorce or sooner, if both parties cannot agree on everything then divorce can become very expensive and could take years. I found a site that explains international divorce.

Woah! No I didn't watch it just simply stating divorce in general no matter where you live. Did you not say "wonder if Canada has same laws as usa"? I asume you are talking international divorce right? And you don't know who I am. I came here saw your post and answered your question wow lady.

Just saw Ender's Game the other night. I thought it was pretty good, though the ending was a little confusing. Damn, I loved the music in it though! Very intense.

They attempted to cram too much information in the end that was left out of the rest of the film. It makes sense, if they introduced those elements earlier it would have made the second twist way too super obvious.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Ender's game is a horrible book - can't imagine a good movie coming from that.
I mean - it's maybe nice for boys and girls dreaming the space cadet dream - but the spirit of the book - nope, thanks.
Watch The Hours OP, I read somewhere else from you, that you might be especially interested in the topic! Good movie.

      the spirit of the book
I'm not a big fan of Card's religious heritage (having lived in Utah, I consider the LDS church nothing less than diabolical though I don't hold that against the poor souls raised to follow it) nor his political views (which he inherited from his church) and I can't speak for what his thematic intent was for the book, whether he truly intended to justify violence or not. But my personal interpretation is that by the end of the novel when everything is said and done, it actually provides a very bleak and negative view of war and fascism. Just because the protagonist is essentially vetted by a fascist idealist, his remorse for his actions does mean something. It says something about how the people that cause suffering are too removed from it to notice. While it's argued by some that it attempts to justify violence, I think in the end violence is left unjustified for the audience. It merely presented characters that justify violence, and not very likable characters at that.

There are parallels to super-humanism and benevolent dictator ideology, and these parallels are what caused it popularity for the marine corps and stuff, but I think honestly it's misinterpreted. Much like the work of Heinlein, the author is interpreted as a fascist ideologue simply because he doesn't take every opportunity to deplore the philosophy or inspire contempt of ideologues promoting it.

And the sequel, Speaker for the Dead, has a great theme in my opinion, and spends less time showing the protagonist being better than everyone at everything and more time illustrating the problems that arise from mistaking how things are with what we think of them. Speaker for the Dead is a fantastic book, granted I'll never pay for it nor pay to watch the film because Card donates money to anti-gay causes and if I support him, I support the causes he donates to. It's unfortunate, but true.

But I will check out The Hours eventually.

The Lord of the Rings movies. Finally saw them. I wasn't sure how much I was going to like them, but I actually ended up enjoying the movies although they were pretty damn long. Will have to read the books one day...

Oh yes - Heinlein is misunderstood completely if one thinks he promotes fascism!
And that happens a lot, that people "just don't get him".
I didn't read the whole book Ender's Game - just started out and a longish while ago - so maybe I missed out on that actual underlying spirit - and you are correct - the people do not shine in an overly good light, who carry the system, so to speak.
But yeah - I did mean "spirit" politically, philosophically, when I wrote that - but I mainly stopped because the simple spirit of how people interact and think is depressing and I didn't expect to be rewarded for having that happen with some sort of insight or resolution I could treasure.
And - enjoy The Hours, once you find the time! I'm curious, if it's too much from a female perspective for ya - hope not!

I want to watch the long version of "Mama" by the way - here the short-film appetizer with intro of the producer - film starts at 50 sec:

I would say to seriously scare me with a horror movie - it takes a bit these days - but this short really plays with expectations and moods so well - really got at me!

Watched "The Naked Gun" for the first time in probably a year. That movie will never fail to make me laugh.

      "You shot innocent bystanders."
"Hey if you saw twenty guys stab a man in front of hundreds of people you'd shoot at them too."
"That was Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar. You killed five actors. Really good actors."

Arsène Lupin (2004) - IMDb Had to watch second time, really good movie from original comics and TV animation series which i seen ages ago, but it also goes back to early 1900s tales and books/comics. I didn't know they had a 1932 movie, might look for that, anyways this is 6/10. Always loved how this guy made police look like fools
Oh yeah, by the way it's a french only movie....i got by watching it LMAO!
