The Magic 8 Ball...and its effects...

Two Nights ago I was about to go to bed when my eyes locked onto an object tucked away in the corner of the room... yes it was my magic 8 ball now I havent used this thing in years but I was bored so I shook it and asked it will I lucid dream tonight, the answer, "Most Likely" I then went to sleep and lo and behold I had a lucid dream, I dont know if this a coincidence or if it actually worked but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with an object and the inducement of lucidity?

I'll guess that it has something to do with your sub-consciousness. When you believe something will happen, it WILL most likely happen (Without any use of physical interference, of course).

This has nothing to do with your subconscious.

Your 8-ball is magical. End of story.

Maybe it was a MILD if you believed the ball was telling the truth (maybe not on a conscious level, but subconsciously)?
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Prehaps, the mind is very recepetive, all I know is that it proably helped me get a lucid dream and thats a win in my book, any day.

A couple of days ago, after reading this thread, I made a yes/no cube (with 3 sides that say "yes" and 3 sides that say "no"), because I don't have a magic 8 ball. I also figured something I made myself would be more personal. The first night I asked it "Will I have a conscious dream tonight or in the morning?" I rolled a "no" and did not have a lucid dream. Last night I asked it again and rolled "yes." I had three lucid dreams in a row this morning before deciding to wake up so I wouldn't forget them.
      Interesting coincidence? Perhaps.

"You are going to have a lucid dream tonight, because you read this." Would work just as well.

Magic 8 balls are just toys which any person over 10 should know, it's just that MILD is an effective technique.

Auto-suggestion. The magic 8-ball was the medium which provided the opening to truly believe in it, which is needed for auto-suggestion.

If you believed it was a stupid toy and you'd never lucid dream, you wouldn't have. This is what a placebo effect does. It gives you the ability to truly believe in something, rather than always be skeptical.

If someone waved a wand in your face and said "You will lucid dream!!" versus, a group of doctors in white lab coats giving you a sugar pill saying they just engineered the first working lucid dream pill, which one would you believe more in?

Lucid dreaming is all about optimism and believing in yourself.

That's what I was implying. Any confidence and belief system would work just as well as a magic 8 ball saying yes.
