Had a dream about BEING lucid but couldn't GET lucid! Help?

So last night I did WBTB for the first time. The dream I had was amazing and long, and it was basically a dream within a dream. No, a lucid dream within a dream. MY dream self knew I was dreaming, but MYSELF/Subconscious didn't know. So myself wasn't lucid.

I'm not going to go into details. I have heard from someone that this was a fake lucid dream. Is this true?

I plan to try again tonight with the MILD technique and I'm hoping I'll become aware myself.

Extra note: This happened before as well a few weeks ago. I had a lucid dream WITHIN a dream, but I wasn't aware of it.

      Thanks Sorry for any confusion.

WELCOME TO DV! yeah you weren't lucid, but it just goes to show that you are very excited and intrigued by lucid dreaming that you are having dreams of being lucid. I suggest you write down in a dream journal whether on here or on paper. Keep the motivation and concentration up i'm sure it will benefit you very soon. I also suggest you look at the tutorials (including user made tutorials). Keep up the good work! Hope you become lucid soon!

Thanks! Heh, I guess I missed one detail. This isn't my first time trying to get lucid or anything. I've been trying for about 3 months or so. I'm also a member on ld4all and already have a dream journal. I guess you can still call me a noob though ^^

About the journal, I already wrote the dream down when I woke up this morning so I think I'm good So basically I just have to keep at it and eventually it will happen? I heard that if you start dreaming about lucidity, it will really happen sooner or later.

      Once again, thanks!

Yeah I hate when that happens. I feel like I missed out in a great lucid dream cause in was being stupid.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

sounds like you are on the right track. I wouldn't be discouraged by this, it just shows you are subconsciously aware of lucid dreaming while dreaming.. I've had similar dreams I think.

What was your dream control like? I've had some dreams where I try to lucid dream but I don't think I've ever succeeded in it.

What do you mean by dream control? I wasn't lucid lol...unless you meant dream recall, but I don't think you did.

I too have had many dreams about being lucid. xP
But now whenever i start thinking about it in WL, i do a reality check!
So then when you start thinking about it during a dream, you'll remember to do a rc and then become lucid for real.

I also have lots of dreams about lucid dreams. Sometimes I have dreams about talking about dreams, or I'll think something is very dream like, without actually becoming lucid. Although this can be quite frustrating, I like to think of it as a positive thing, like what JesterKK said. It means my waking life interest in dreams and lucid dreaming is being incorporated into my dreams, and so it should be easier to become lucid, eventually.

This sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

I think I'm the dumbest one at this, because last night I put in headphones that told me over and over clearly, "You are dreaming." I heard it very clear.
I suppose your mind knows you want to be lucid, badly. You'll have a lucid dream if you keep trying. I suggest telling yourself you will have a lucid dream tonight, and believe it. Eventually, it will work. If it doesn't, there are dozens of methods you can try.

I also have been having dreams lately in which I'm talking to someone about lucidity. Like others on this thread, I've begun to do a reality check whenever I find myself thinking about lucid dreaming, or talk about it to someone else, and especially while talking about this particular problem, like right now.
