      Nap luciding

If I took a nap at 4pm after waking up at 7am, which method would be most effective in your opinion?

If you get up at 7:00 in the morning and take a nap at 4:00 in the afternoon, that's a full 9 hours after waking, which may be a bit too late to try a WILD (which is usually done within 4-6 hours after waking). You could always try and see how it goes though!

If you decide to nap at the time you've posted without trying a WILD, I'd definitely go with MILD, as Graves has already mentioned.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I normally have a magic hour sometime around 3pm, and again around 7pm. If you are feeling tired and fall asleep easily, try WILD. If it takes you some time to fall asleep, use something more like MILD. The key is to actually fall asleep. Don't let your method keep you awake.

I agree with the Puffin, but just a suggestion, I typically take my naps 2-3 hours after I wake up in the morning, and that's what induced my 1st lucid dream, although before that I tried many times in the afternoon, failing every time.

MILD or WILD, for sure. MILD seems to be more popular in this thread though, so I would try that first.

Personally I have had no success with naps, simply because I believe it is hit an miss if you are going to be in an REM period.

For me, if I am tired, morning naps work great, and work almost every time.

I would say mild and set an alarm for 30 mins after you begin and try a mini wild.

A nap would ergonomically have to be MILD or DILD

Your best bet would probably be a WILD. In fact all of my naps have been WILD's and I usually hit the REM period.
Maybe its all about how tired you are. That groggy 2 PM feeling is the perfect time for a nap, and lucid dream.
Try MILD and see how it goes as well. People have different success with different techniques, you just need to find whats right for you.

This is a good way to word how you should be feeling during a WILD.

All but two of my WILDs have taken place during a nap, about 3 hours after waking. The "recommended" time is 4-6, but everyone is different! At only three hours, I haven't fully woken up but my awareness is high enough so that I can mentally stay afloat while deeply relaxing; like ClearView said, it's that groggy sort of feeling that can really help with one's attempts. You're also groggy after doing a WBTB at night, but it's a different sort of grogginess. It really depends on what type will help you the most.

I think it really depends on how easy it is for you to take naps. If it's not so easy you might try something like MILD because you can spent a few minutes doing autosuggestion and then just let yourself fall asleep. If it's easy for you to sleep for naps, then you can just let your body do what it wants and focus no keeping yourself conscious (WILD).
