      What Am I Doing Wrong?

Okay, so my knowledge on lucid dreaming and induction techniques are kind of limited. Most lucids I've had are absolutely by stupid luck. :S

So far, my way of attempting to induce a lucid dream:

1.) Relax every muscle, starting from the toes up. A trick I learned from yoga.
2.) Allow myself to sink deeper while trying to keep my mind awake by focusing on what I'm going to dream about / imagine scenes I want / tell myself repeatedly this will be a lucid dream.

End up nodding off at some point. Sometimes I dream, sometimes I do not. My dream recall has fallen sharply - I used to dream, vividly, at least once a night.

      Optional things I do:

a.) Lay on my back with my hands at my sides ( I sleep on my stomach/side mostly.)
b.) Listen to .9hz Delta Biaurual Beats. It's just a tone, nothing fancy, and there's approximately an hour of it.

So I don't get it. I want my dream recall back. I want to lucid dream. Advice and opinions welcome, I'm going back to consulting tutorials and guides.
I'm the drug you crave on sleepless nights, the addiction that rips you apart on the inside - the poison that you would pay millions to possess. Yet when you finally have me, I'll wrap you in silky lies and take you to hell with me, baby.

      Current dream goals:
      Dream of Bioshock - [ ] || Dream of Spriggan - [ ] || TBU!

Are you keeping a dream journal? Are you doing reality checks throughout he day? If you aren't doing either of these two things, you should probably start. LDing is a bit futile if you don't get your recall up first (which dream journaling is good for). It's good that you're thinking about lucid dreaming before sleeping, but doing it throughout the day will ingrain it further in your mind.

I would work on my waking reality checks. Simply ask yourself 'Am I dreaming' throughout the day leading up to an attempt. While falling asleep visualize a placard or billboard that states ' You Are Dreaming' . Be positive you will lucid dream. Anyhoo, good luck to you!

@Dia: Yes to the dream journal, I have one with two pens right at my head so when I wake up, I can groggily go, "okay, this dream was stupid." Luckily I've had a dream the past two nights in a row. Semi-yes to reality checks, as well. A new trend I adopted is not only to say it to myself throughout the day, but now to write it out in my dream journal. Every night, I write: "remember, you are a lucid dreamer, and you will remember your dreams. You will lucid dream tonight." Every night, right before I go to bed now!

@Faceon: Thanks! I'll try to up my reality checks.

Sorry about the gap in reply, there. Totally forgot that I posted.

Have you started LD before. In my opinion, My LD's always started 4:00 PM - 7:00, Alarm Clock is always useful, not in Destroying my LD but starting my Lucidity, I shut the Alarm Clock Back to Bed, No Dim Lights or Bright Lights should be absorb by eyes, Stare at a Dark Section of your room them let your eyes shut down, when you started the REM sleep, mostly you are not that quickly Lucid, Body Clock signals would be register. Feel your Body Temperature, if it is Cold(This is one of my Dream Signs)im thinking about 4:00 AM. Check your Fingers if its align, Mirror would be a good one in RC. Talk to someone in your Dream, if the same as your voice, well you know there something wrong. Or try this say 10+10 in your dream, you almost realize that your dreaming and the surroundings become clearer.

You are doing nothing wrong. You are on a path to discover what works for you. It is slightly different for all of us. You will find the answer. Good luck to you!

Keep a watch on this subforum: DV Academy

Another intro class should start soon. It helps bring you into doing the right things, and it includes support of fellow dreamers.

If the old class is still there, the threads and workbooks, it might help to look through a few of them. I got my recall up really well because I spent time paying lots of attention to my dreams!

      Good luck!
