Lucid usually means you realize you are dreaming, so if you do not realize it, you are not lucid. Often people refer to semi-lucid, but what that means is personal to each dreamer. Basically it is used for dream states that are more than normal dreams, but fall short of your own definition of truely lucid.

It is not possible to be lucid without realizing. Being lucid means knowing you are in a dream. You can get lucid in a dream but forget about it the next morning. This might be what is happening. You have to work on your dream recall and keep a dream journal so you don't forget any lucid dreams you have.

You can also control a dream without being lucid. Hope this helped a bit! Good luck. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Do you mean that you just randomly become lucid without doing a reality check or questioning your surroundings? If the answer is yes, than it is indeed possible. It happens to me all the time. If the answer is no, than i agree with the other posters.

I agree with the masses however, if your question is can you enter a dream lucid without having a moment of realization then the answer is yes. I have entered many NREM dreams lucid from the get-go. But if you don't realize you are dreaming then it cannot be a lucid dream.
