      To induce a false awakening...

What does one do? I've never had a false awakening in my life, and I kind of wish I could at least once. You know, for kicks - "I did it".

Any ideas as for how to induce a false awakening?

I never had one i could remember either, but after i began keeping a dream journal and trying to LD they come so often it's kinda annoying.

I don't really know if you can induce them intentionally, i do know however, that both my DILDs where from FAs.
So i guess you are a little more "awake" in a FA but it is not something i am sure of.

Well I've had 5 false awakenings or so. The only thing I did was doing a reality check every single time when I woke up. I also did loads of wbtbs. So I think that's the reason why I've got these false awakenings. Like buhl said, I'm not sure if you can actually induce them. But you could try to say a mantra everytime before you fall asleep like: "Tonight I'm going to have a false awakening" something like that. Or you could also try to visualize yourself having a false awakening and performing a reality check. I hope this helped

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

Hm. Sounds about as induce-able as a lucid dream. (not too hard, just all mental and not worth the bother unless it leads to lucidity.)

Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week; you have a schedule, a calendar... Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures.
A fear of time running out.

They happen a lot when you wake up from an LD, so if you are LDing a lot, you should have a FA in no time. Some people don't have them though. You have a higher chance of doing it if you are waking yourself up from an LD. But you probably won't sacrifice or risk LD time for a false awakening.

One of the pros was saying that he would wake himself up if he was having a LD that wasn't very vivid. He would wake up and then RC without moving, if he was asleep still he would go from there, but if he was awake he would DEILD. So that is something to think about.

A long time ago I used a technique here on DV. The first night it gave me 5 FAs and when I woke up I couldn't tell if I was awake or if I was alseep, so I quit using it. Now that I remember it I'm going to start again because I realize how useful that technquie is!

I haven't had a FA yet, or at least I don't remember one. I would definitely like to have one since it is like a free-ticket to lucid dreaming. :3

Wow really? No help here, but a lot of LD's of mine have stemmed from False Awakenings. I usually don't even RC, I just -know- that I'm not in my actual room , but my dream room. Hahaha. They're actually not even as annoying as some people say.

Alternatively try WILD'ing, all of my WILDs started from false awakenings pretty much, so it might be a good idea if you have time for WILD/WBTB nap .

Sounds interesting; I've got it open in another tab and will look at it when I can. (I'm going to be online less often on break, and I only have internet for a bit tonight.)
