First of all, I will not advise to try too many techniques at once, but if you want to, then do it and see what works for you.
Some techniques are not very compatible, especially in the beginning. For example, you don't want to go to bed with this intention: "Tonight I will remember to realize that I am dreaming, I will remember to not move upon awakening, I will remember my dreams, I will do SSILD if DEILD fails, I will have long lucid dreams, I will have control, I will do this and that" etc. Too many intentions to an unaccustomed mind.
Start with a few techniques. Do self-awareness training during the day and make any intentions for plans during a lucid dream during the day as well. Maybe start with DEILD. Go to bed with the intention to not move upon awakening. Let this be your main focus! If you do move, then set your intention and go back to sleep. Keep it this way until doing so becomes almost automatic. Fortunately WILD, SSILD, and DEILD are all in the same family, DEILD just being a much easier version of WILD, so when you become proficient at remaining still, and you do move for some reason or other, you can then begin to line up a WILD or SSILD immediately after without setting intention again.
Then perhaps you can add another intention, this time using only this, and so on.
A good example is dream recall. In the beginning you may need to set the intention to recall your dreams, but with journaling and habit you won't need this anymore.
About your hike: I would say the most important thing is to just enjoy it. If you are really into and enjoy constant self awareness, then great. If not, then do it at certain times.
Feel free to disregard all of this and do whatever you want. This is usually my technique that I call being stubborn.
