      What technique was this?

Had another lucid dream 2 nights ago.

The scene was I was in some large building by the beach, my bedroom was enormous, so in the dream I randomly become lucid and started creating things, like a huge clear pathway through the building. But now I remember the last lucid dreams I've had I wake up too quickly from a lucid dream, so for some reason I went back to sleep, then woke up again in the dream but wasn't lucid lol. I must have read something about this to have tired it out, I didn't intentionally go back to sleep I think, it was like I was drifting in and out of lucidity. What do I do next time to change the scenario without going to sleep and to prolong lucidity, realistically how long can you achieve lucidity in a dream???? I don't think I've gone past a minute yet!!

After alot of practice, lucidity can last as long as your dream does. Just remember to stabilize your dream by spinning, rubbing your hands together, or stopping, taking a deep breath, and asking for the dream to stabilize.
      Love is a powerful word.

Congrats on the ld! One thing I find very helpful to prolong dreams and also to keep you lucid is to have a task you really want to complete in the dream. Just concentrate on it and don't give up until you are satisfied with the result. This can take one or many dreams and it's usually a lot of fun. To give you some ideas here is a directory with tasks that DV members try out every month/thoughout the year:

      Tasks

      Good luck and have fun!

The best thing, I think, to help you stay lucid for longer, is to ground your senses into the dream. Really concentrate on everything in the dream. What you can see, all the sounds around you, what the air smells like, have a taste of the wall, or some fruit, and how everything feels, texture. Keep your senses focused on the dream, and you will stay in it for longer. Keep your mind away from thoughts about your physical body lying in bed, because this can make you wake up.

      Cheers guys, great advice

NyxCC - That's great! I'm gonna try this month's basic task and ask a DC what the meaning of life is haha. realdealmagic - Indeed! What I've decided to do this evening, next time I have a LD is to bring out a blueberry in my pocket with the intention that eating it will prolong my dream and bring extra clarity Gills - Fascinating, what exactly did you do then for 20 minutes?!?!

Sorry about the grammer of this post, for some reason when I try to hit return it takes half the sentence line with it!!

Here's what I'd like to know. When you are LDing, how do you know for sure how long the LD was? My LD I had took me about 4 pages to write, but I've no idea the actual length of time it lasted.

Because when I became aware it's a lucid dream it's literally so crystal clear, it's the same as real life! Time frame is exactly the same, it is essentially being awake/aware of yourself in a dream. If I had a lucid dream where I walked to work, I know it would take me 15 mins cause that's what it takes me in real life. 15 min lucid dream would be amazing!
