Will my hard work pay off?

Ive been practicing awareness followed by reality checks every day for the past 3 weeks now. I don't really every reality check for a reason, the idea just constantly pops in my head to "become aware" and I do it. Ive only questioned my dreams once and I hope to more and eventually LD. Im just wondering if I'm on the right track and eventually my persistence and determination will pay off. It's just frustrating night after night not seeing any progress.

every success is achieved through persistence. you just have to stick to it but do include some night time exercises to really boost it up, practice MILD with WBTB, it will give to that extra kick!

You know, sometimes, if you stop trying it suddenly works. Because you are used to reality checking and then if you suddenly stop your mind will want to remind you to do it. So maybe if you do lots of reality checks for a week and then suddenly stop you might get lucid.

But maybe you are just not remembering your dreams! You might be getting lucid all along but you just have no recall. How is your recall?

OH yes sir it will. Like Ginsan asked, how is your recall? You might've forgotten some. Are you doing a DJ? I've heard it isn't mandatory but it is a gigantic help on recall. Trust us, and just keep going at it man. For me it took me two weeks to get one. Just keep on trying and it should happen soon!

It took me about a month to start seeing the first results of awareness in lucid dreaming, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. The more time you spend on awareness the more rewards you get from it in LDing.
In all, if one is to practice Self Awareness or any other type of awareness he/she should have the mindset of persistence, patience, and determination. Not to mention a positive mindset as well, which really does boost LD frequency in my opinion based from my experiences.

So yes, you will start to see results soon man, but please make sure that you really are comfortable with the way you do your awareness. Your mind won't really grasp onto things that it finds annoying or anything negative like that. If you put too much work into something, you end up working against yourself(this fits more with Lucid Dreaming, not so much real life as much).
Also with the reality checks, if you feel good about the way you do them now, stick with it, but if you don't then I would suggest going about them a different way. The way I do RC's is that I ONLY do them when something weird, unusual, or out of the ordinary happens. That's literally the only time I do them.
For instance if I'm in class in school and my teacher starts a disco party, I would do a reality check. Another example: If I'm in my house on my laptop and all of a sudden my mom walks in and tells me to get my shoes on because we are about to go flying, I would do a reality check.

And it doesn't have to be things as weird as that either, it could be something as simple as tripping in school or forgetting to do something.

To sum it all up, I just do them whenever something that normally doesn't happen happens.

Sammoo, persistence is a necessity for any kind of awareness. As I said, it took me a month to start seeing only the first results. Pretty soon you'll notice a huge difference in your dreams, you'll know for sure when that happens because when it happened for me it took me by surprise. Stick with it man, and never give up. You didn't go through these 3 weeks of hard work for nothing.

      Goals:
-Become Lucid in every dream every night
      -Perfect the time dilation watch
-Continue to have a dream plan for most of my lucid dreams

Will it pay off? Eventually, yes. Especially if you combine it with WBTB and do lots of dream journaling. I'm the world's biggest DILD detractor, and even I get the occasional DILD, and got quite a few back when I first started lucid dreaming.

However, the real question is, is it worth it? There's a much better technique out there called WILD, and it doesn't require you spending your whole day constantly counting your fingers and whatnot.

Thank you for the great advice man, I have a question for you though. You say you reality check when something weird happens to you or out of the ordinary, is it bad that I do them when I just get the thought "am I dreaming?" that happens to me with no que and I RC but not necessarily when anything is different.

Of curse it is good, not always something weird happen, so you wouldn't do much reality checks.
But of course if you feel a bit off or something, do a reality check and do it every hour of so (I try to do it every hour).
And don't worry, everybody has their own time, mine came after two and a half weeks and the dream was about 5 seconds (and untill today I still struggle to get more aware in my lucid dreams), so it's take time.
Just know that if you keep reality checking, writing your dreams and maybe even try a method such as MILD or WBTB, you are on the right path.
