      Mmorpg

*This thread is just a joke*
Imagine we could use shared dreaming as like, an mmo, such as runescape. What if shared dreaming could be the next XBOX live or PlayStation Network? For example, the "game" could be one dream world, and some volunteers could be similar to servers.
      Wow....

What if we could use shared dreaming to throw parties?

Shared dreams would probably be easy to exploit in terms of individual people creating trouble for other dreamers, and it's too easy to bend the rules or go beyond the reality of the specific MMORPG. For instance, someone who wants to stir up trouble summons a massive tidal wave to drown other dreamers; inexperienced people would probably wake up. All that aside, though, it would be pretty cool.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I don't think it would really catch on, mostly because of the effort required start the "game"

most people want it to be as easy as popping a disk into a console, it's too bad really.

Let's expand the joke a bit...

That's all you got, Fgopl? The laws of physics have a whole new chapter added to them (aka: dream-sharing is real), and all you can think of to do with this new-found megapower is video games and parties?

      Well shit.

If dream sharing exists, and can be harnessed, it opens the door to things that challenge the imagination. Why stall yourself at video games? Why not have a few thousand dream sharers link their minds into a single supercomputer, and change the world? Why not Use shared dreaming to invade the dreams of world leaders, and then influence them to stop the nonsense and make waking life a little better for all? Speaking of that, why not be selfish and invade the dreams of, say, Bill Gates, and convince him that it is critical that he send you $1 billion? Why not used shared dreaming to create an entire existence in the dreamworld (an etheric Lawnmower Man, perhaps), and achieve immortality?

In other words, if you want to joke about this subject, you might pick something with more punch than a video game. Stretch your brain, and look for something that you're not currently doing to aspire to; I guarantee the results will be excellent, even if you never share a dream...

Haha, good point Sageous. So going with THAT idea of thinking outside of the box...

From my point of view (which I understand is not everyones and I still respect theirs) dream sharing is real (as I've had a few confirmed shared dreams). Building on that foundation, that tells me there's energy there, all energy can be harnessed, it's just a matter of how. Once dream sharing has a reliable method of being created .... that's where the fun begins. It means we've found a way to harness this specific type of energy. You could hold large group dream sessions, build skills, but most importantly build awareness. You could show others how to do this and eventually the awareness expands exponentially.

Now, this is a far fetched idea but to me, lucid dreaming is the foundation to telepathy. Telepathy comes so easily in dreaming and the cross-over seems so simple. It's a matter of opening up to energy in the waking state... I'm sure many have done this, those moments where you know exactly what a friend is going to say, what your friend is thinking... now some might say this is a combination of knowing past patterns, understanding mannerisms, etc. True, it can be. But those are all subtle forms of energy you've come to understand.

Anyway, this also opens the doors to various other abilities we once thought impossible. Like telekinesis. Once we understand energy and how to manipulate it, the possibilities are endless and that's when quantum physics really come into play.

What do others think about the future of lucid dreaming and where it can take us?

Hey, sageous, I said that this thread is a joke. Of course I know shared dreaming is way too good to be some kind of game console.

Understood. I didn't mean to insult, just to continue the joke in order to get people to throw in more ideas of the potentials that dream-sharing could have, if it is real. I did the dig about video gaming as goal only because its always confused me here that video games are so often the ultimate goal of LD'ers here -- showing my age, I guess.

In any case, I'm glad to know you see that there is more potential to shared dreaming... any thoughts about what else you'd like to do with it, were it real?

      waking life is an mmorpg!!!!!!!

I can see this being chaotic. I would pass because I like to be isolated and alone. But really shared dreaming is a sort of telepathy. And having this would be a huge soup of mixed energies in some crazy dream game. sounds like chaos. But whatever lol.
