A new experiment I am going to try.

For those of you that believe (such as my self), that Lucid Dreaming is just a form of an out of body experience, I'm going to attempt something new over the next few weeks.

When I lucid dream, it's normally a WILD that occurs after getting up for a few minutes after a full night's rest and going back to bed, normally around 5:00 or 6:00 AM. Lately I've been seeing what I think is my body as I transition into my WILD. (I always start off in the room I fell asleep in and the last two times I did this I saw my self sleeping on the bed.) I don't know how many of you have read Robert Monroe's books, but I'm of the belief (as was he), that with practice you can maintain a level of focus that will allow you to essentially OBE in the "real" world, seeing things that would correspond to what was actually taking place in real waking life.

Now I'm not good enough to travel in this state... yet... because the moment I leave my room I slip into a dream, but it seems as long as I remain within the general vicinity of my body, (my room), I can maintain a certain level of focus in the OBE state. In the last week this has improved significantly.

I have a set of neon, colored markers and a little coffee table in my room. I'm putting all of the markers in a dark drawer and from now on before I go back to sleep to induce my daily WILD's every morning, I'm going to blindly reach in, grab a marker out of the drawer, and stick it on the coffee table without looking at it. From there I'm going to climb back into bed and go about my WILD attempt as usual.

My goal is to maintain a level of focus to the point where I can see the color of the marker on the coffee table after I leave my body... consistently. I believe this can be done, after reading others' experiences and Robert Monroe's books. (Those should be required reading for anyone interested in this forum, I swear.)

Anyone else ever tried anything like this? I'll let you know how it goes, but it might take a while to see any results. We'll find out, soon!

I think this experiment is genius. I might even try it myself!

      Sounds like good plan.

      Simple and (hopefully) effective.

Raven Knight has done this experiment before. I'm not sure where the thread is, but it died a long time ago. I think she had a 60% success rate.

Anyway, I wish you good luck in this experiment!

60% is amazing if you're using 6 colors.

I've only tried this once since posting, honestly. I've been so busy... The GOOD news is I remembered I wanted to do the experiment as soon as I was out of body.... and there was a coffee table, AND a marker... right where they should have been in the "room" my mind had formed, so my memory was solid enough.

The BAD news was it was so dark when I realized it I couldn't see it's color anyway. In fact, I must have already slipped too far into a dream because I remember picking UP the marker and trying to shine it in a light in the hallway to see it's color. (Which, obviously, I couldn't have done had it been the real marker.) It was purple...maybe pink ... but then I woke up and it was yellow. Haha.

I'm also going to test an inverse color theory as well. Yellow and Purple are completely opposite colors in the spectrum. If THAT is somehow consistent as well, that would be interesting.

This brings up an interesting thought, though. If someone was TRULY out of body and vibing very close to this dimension (without slipping into a dream or the astral plane), one should be able to FEEL objects, pass through them, and yet NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE THEM AT ALL.

That would be a very.... very odd sensation... to be able to feel something and slip through it, yet not be able to manipulate it in any form.

Anyone ever had that experience before?

It was actually 5 different cards. They were the telepathy cards... I forget what they're called...

I had a dream this morning that I was out of body. It felt really weird. I didn't see my body in bed. My bed looked really weird. My body was in a very strange position along with a gaming chair that I haven't used for years. Anyway, just felt like saying that.

With 5 cards, random guessing would net about a 20% average. If she preformed this experiment numerous time, I'm pleasantly happy to hear these results!

Cool dream, homie! As long as we're slightly off topic, I woke up around 3:00 AM and couldn't get back to sleep till 4:00 or so. When I finally started dozing off I actually remember going into a vibrational state... off and on like 3-4 times. It was the first time I've felt vibrations that hard in months....

...the first time it happened I heard a girl's voice and felt hands grab both of my dream/spirit hands, (there's a reason I chose the avatar I did), but it kind of caught me off guard so I lost my focus and found my self back in my body. I might have felt the hands a second time, as I came back and forth between the states, but I'm not sure. I didn't get past blackness and peaceful floating, but I was very conscious of all of this happening.

Looks like the detox is having an effect! I'm only on day 6 and I hear that the effects can last en entire month, given how heavy of a smoker I was.

That's interesting. I wonder what would have happened if you went out of body... I never looked at your avatar closely until you mentioned it. It's pretty cool!

Anyway, it would be interesting to have an OOB someday. Even cooler would be if people could see me. Turn into something freaky and scare people!

I want to do this on a bigger scale, like with a 24 pack of crayola crayons. I'm going to join you in this project. I'm not going to have a lot of time (considering I can't LD on the spot), but I'll try to keep my progress and then post it on here. Good luck on this.

I wouldn't recommend a 24 pack to start because at that level the nuances in colors would be too difficult to discern... Taking the 6 colors of the rainbow and adding white, black, brown, pink... maybe gold and silver, that would make 12. I can't think of any other specific colors beyond that you'd want to add to the mix.

      But I mean, do it any way you want. I just don't see how having the Orange, Tangerine, and Macaroni and Cheese colored crayons will really aid you, here. ^^;;

Yes, but not in an OBE. The trigger for most of my lucid dreams is to stick my hand through a solid object. It feels like a barrier of energy passing through the inside of my body.

TT, actually this is how I stabilize as well! Whenever I find my self out of body, (in any form) I push my hands through the floor or an object in order to mentally ground my self in the lucid state. I've had numerous experiences doing this, and have watched my dream hands pass through objects, so I'm very aware of what it both feels and looks like.

...but normally depending on my level of focus, I can either interact with the objects as if they were solid, OR slip through them as if they (or my self) was/were not.

However, being able to FEEL objects like this and yet NOT being able to pick them up or move them... that's something I've never experienced.... to be a ghost to your environment. I wonder what it's like...

Ya I love that feeling in lucids. I love walking through doors instead of opening them. ^_^

I think this is a great test. I have no experience with OBEs and I think I would do this test if I tried them.
