I'm new but I hope this is the right spot for this. |

Removing past experience can be challenging because the illusory thoughts of a past can be so visceral I end up convinced I have that past. |

sivason can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what he means is to focus on the Now, and in an objective, not subjective manner. Experience the Now as it actually is and not shaded by past experience and current emotions. Direct perception with no filters. Pure awareness and nothing more. |
|
Yes, that is exactly what I mean. It may be difficult, as it is counter to instinct. Just like it is hard for most to think rationally in the middle of a crisis. |
|
I think the O.P. is not about lucid dreaming, at all. |
|
Like being rational in crisis.. Hmm that resonates with this idea well. The seemingly endless flow of life's illusion can appear overwhelming when viewing it from the subjective view, the objective view of reality however intimidates me because it means I am something besides human; at least the way I had previously thought humans to be. |

You are not your thoughts...
I dont believe I've had exactly that experience before but I feel like I understand what you mean. |

To become more lucid, try constantly balancing your awareness of everything. It's going to require a lot of conscious effort at first, and it's pretty much ADA, but that's how you do it. At first to condition yourself you would likely have to keep asking questions and remind yourself to keep awareness of as much as you can. What are you doing right now? What were you doing just a few seconds ago, not too long ago though. What are you about to do? What are the people around you doing? What is the world around you doing? What temperature is it? Are you comfortable? Are you hungry or tired? Are you happy, sad, mad, anxious? What does it smell like right now? How fast does time seem to be going? What time is it? What time do you think it about is without looking at a clock? What does holding something specifically feel like? What is the texture like, and is it wet, slimy, or dry? It's a lot to take in, but you are capable. Your mind had to do this as a child before you built up enough memory of everything that is happening around you that you could start taking shortcuts to think about hypotheticals. When you saw someone riding a bike and about to hit a bump, you didn't know they would probably crash and that crashing hurt. You took what people said literally despite certain idioms and the inflection of their voice. Now you have to forget what you think you know, and seek to find out what is actually happening rather than what you believe is happening. |

^ Come to think of it, I've seen people suggest treating real life as if it were a lucid dream, and I think the idea is the same: In a LD, things are exciting; even the most ordinary things are interesting and new to us because we know unexpected things can happen in a dream, so we tend to pay a lot more attention. It's like being a child in a brand new universe with different natural laws. Having the same attitude in the waking world means paying a lot of attention to everything you are used to ignoring. It's actually a fairly simple idea, even though trying to explain it in words often seems to make it sound difficult and complicated. |

Thanks so much for the input guys. Meaningful conversation about these topics has been rare. The feedback helps explore these ideas further. |

This idea of Lucid Waking Life is very interesting. In the Youtube "Waking Life" a guy tells the main character that |

Ebbtide what do you expect to achieve through observation? I practice all day awareness as well. For me it is in hopes that I catch something that tips me off just enough to realize the dream around me |

I recommend looking at shows that talk about the cosmos. The stuff we are learning about the universe now is unbelievable. I mean that literally! It is not believable. Look at the fact that there is infinite space, and apparently infinite time. There are so many star systems that if you 'dreamt' one up every minute and moved on, you would not have been able to dream them all in thousands of years, but they are not simple thoughts, they are star systems. There are black holes with a billion times the mass of our sun, and so on. Now, look at biology or any earth science; it is way too complex! The fact that hydrogen some how became a penguin is 'unbelievable' and that should make it easy to see the truth. None of this is real. |

Hi, |

One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
I bet, thank you kenietz. |
