      Thank you CL!

This is terribly embarrassing, but I read "Busy" as "Busty" when I saw the title of this DJ entry. I swear that I would have read it either way, lol...
Long LOL!! Especially understandable considering this is a DJ entry by me!

On SSILD: I usually try to keep it to a guestimate of around 5-7 minutes. I have to admit that I have gone back and done a few more (of my rapid cycles in either case) when I don't seem to be heading any closer to sleep as it can also be relaxing for me.

Great scene, fogelbise! I like the image of that windy underground highway. It seems like you got so much detail and so many individual little actors going about their business! I love those dreams just have that extra, almost unnecessary amount of detail that you can barely even process.

I've been meaning to ask how many SSILD cycles you generally get through on the way to sleep and about how long you're awake. Do you have a rough estimate? Just curious, I know it's best to not get too freaky and detail-oriented about that kind of stuff.

LOL. You've got skills, fogelbise, there's no doubting that. Congratulations on the lucid and making such a huge number of new friends.

And for writing a dream journal entry that is more spoilers than regular text!

Haha, I see what you mean! Well, if that didn't scare you off, check out my DILD this morning. I actually used a little softer language this time but it was near-epic sex and very exhilarating!! But you didn't "like" my entry ...haha

      @NyxCC Thank you!
Exploring the dream scape is one of the best dream activities. I think it also helps us appreciate more the small details in wake life.
      So so true!!

      Thanks CL!
I notice that you have a whole system now in your DJ, with the hashtagging and some mysterious (to me) numbers...? (190-193, etc.)
hashtagging will supposedly allow my "awoken" app to keep track of my most common dream signs in addition to using the tag cloud on here. Haven't decided if I will pay for that feature yet but using the hashtags in case. 190-193 was my LD count at the time.

I remember that you used to voice record your dreams. Do you use dictation software? I'm just curious about your system. It looks kinda sophisticated and well thought out!
Thanks! Yeah, I use a combination of dictation and written notes depending on the situation. I manually add the hashtag after dictation. Dream signs seem to be an important part of my practice, so I am giving them their due.

Besides the fun things, I want to start asking the dream to reveal things about myself that may be able to help me IWL. The new one this morning, I just had fun looking around and exploring the dream scape
This sounds interesting! Wish you to get awesome answers.

New ld! Congrats! Exploring the dream scape is one of the best dream activities. I think it also helps us appreciate more the small details in wake life.

      Thanks for the thoughts, guys!

I was breathing very slowly to get the full cycle in one breathe-in/breathe-out cycle. Slow breathing no doubt helps with relaxation too!

@CanisLucidus - it sounds like we are probably still doing it a liitle differently, but as you and I know, techniques ofter work better when you find your own little variation...so I would run with the way you were doing it and only adjust it as needed. I also "prime the pump" of SSILD in a way I didn't mention above, but it is very similar to the way you were talking about using the rapid cycling as the primer. My primer seems especially useful if you're still too sleepy to think about doing the rapid cycles properly. let me know if you want more information, but you might want to keep going with what you tried out.

@ThreeCat no worries of course! With all of your LD related reading, I know there are things to learn from you.

What's funny is that while I was doing it, I got the sense that it was requiring a lot of concentration to do all of a cycle in just one breath. I thought all of that "thinking" would keep me awake. But I actually found that instead it helped rapidly squeeze other thoughts out of my head, so when the cycles slowed down, I was "prepped" for the real thing (if not asleep already!)
My question: were you holding your breath while doing the cycles? If so, you will probably notice that the slower you breathe, the slower your mind thinks. If you're not breathing, it is relatively easy to not think. Just a thought?

EDIT: And sorry, fogelbise, for jacking your DJ

Fogelbise, thanks so much for this excellent description! I waited to get back to you until after I tried this, and I have to say that it worked very well!

Has that been your experience with it as well?

It sounds like this might be a great way to lead into SSILD in general. Starting with super fast cycles, moving to medium cycles, and then moving into the longer, slower cycles toward the end. Maybe the starting point could be based on current level of wakefulness.

What do you think? And thanks again for the write-up and advice, it was very useful!

@Dreamer It was wonderful! I wasn't sure everyone would understand, but it sounds like you do.

      True, true!

Not all the points that I had planned, but the competition did push me to focus better and I believe that I made further progress understanding what works for me. I'm guessing you still beat me...need to go through the last few pages of the competition thread.

@ThreeCat My theories for this include length of time I have been paying attention to dream signs, WBTB enhanced awareness, daytime self-awareness practice, nighttime reminders to watch out for dream signs and maybe others that I am forgetting at the moment. I am especially hopeful due to the fact that I got a resurgence of the boldness/taking action dream sign...the theory behind that one is basically that my past LDs have involved me taking action, so if I do so in a semi-lucid state it often helps me to achieve lucidity! As in this is something I do in dreams...hey, I am dreaming!
