    1. Lucidly flying in front of my daughter

      by , 09-07-2016 at 12:53 PM
      LUCID DREAM #21

September 7, 2016: I am test flying (indoors) a small (~30cm) yellow and black radio-controlled model jet. After tossing it into the air and flying it in the tight constraints of the room, it goes to ground gently out of sight between a couch and the adjacent wall. It was difficult to see behind the couch to perform the retrieval, so I float-fly above the couch to see where it has landed. WAIT!? I'm FLYING! I'm dreaming! WooHoo!

Never once gave a thought to any of the TOTM's. I immediately start flying around the room which looks like a cross between our current living room and basement. As I fly I’m looking for an exit to the house. I fly down a short hall to the foyer of our front door and find a screen door that leads to the outside, which is day-lit and looks like a pleasant fall day. I try to pass directly through the screen. I "KNOW" I can - this is just a dream screen...but NOPE…I bang into it as if it were real. The sensation of my shoulder hitting the screen (with more than a little conviction and therefore “force”) is utterly real. Having failed to phase through the screen I open the door latch with ease, not willing to waste lucid time or effort on such a mundane and possibly fruitless task as phasing through a screen door.

Outside, I spot A. (perfectly rendered as she exists today) and (later) her best friend A. S. - less accurately depicted but still recognizable. Our daughter A. is standing on the walk leading to the front door of our current home.

I fly above our A. at about 50 feet altitude and look down at her, optimally positioning myself in front of her at about a forty-five degree angle. I call and wave frantically to her multiple times to see if she can hear or see me. At first, she couldn't, but I persisted. Eventually I gradually became apparent to her, but she expresses little in the way of shock or surprise. I tell her "Look at me! I'm dreaming and I can do ANYTHING I want!” Evidently she was not impressed.

I think she was on the walk waiting for her friend (also named A.) who soon joins her while all this is going on. I though seriously about flying up to her friend A. and attempting to get in some sexy time, but what with her being my daughter's friend and with my daughter right there on-scene, it for sure was NOT going to happen and my heart wasn’t really into it, anyway. Thwarted by the circumstances (and with other people waking up and making noise) I awoke. Wake time: 5:35am.

    2. Flying Above a Crowd

      by , 08-06-2016 at 11:32 AM
August 6, 2016: I am one of many people in a large open field. Scott and many of his friends such as Costa, Brandan, Kelly are there. I recognize them from his wedding and invitations to their homes to celebrate various events in their lives such as baby showers and house warming parties, but I don't know/remember many of their names, even in real life. In front of me is a sandy patch of soil. For some inexplicable reason I decide to jump onto that particular patch of soil. I am launched softly into the air and immediately go lucid.

The view from above the crowd is SUCH a unique perspective and highly detailed. I think to myself it's remarkable how few people even notice me in the air because of the infrequency with which people tend to look up. Yet here I am marveling at the idea that I can look down upon them and see them all and every detail of their heads, hair, hats and clothing. I circle the field and the crowd below several times inspecting the grounds, their clothes and taking in other details of the meadow scene from a stable altitude of about 100 feet. I spot Scott and his friends (all guys) towards the periphery of the crowd and gracefully descend, making a rather skilled landing. For some reason I rarely have trouble flying or landing. I am completely aware that this is a dream. I pick out one of his friends (Costa) and start patting him playfully about the waist, practically dancing with joy at being lucid in their company. I ask Costa “what does it feel like to be a dream character?” He responds cryptically by saying “how does a piece of meat feel about being a piece of meat?”

I start explaining to the group that this is a dream and I am dreaming. I tell them I don't want to think about it too hard because I'm afraid I'm going to wake up - but I'm asleep in my bed or taking a nap somewhere in my house and I can do anything I want without consequence..so let's find me a girl. This declaration is met with a substantial amount of hilarity from this younger group of men, and we collectively break into a trot and begin to gradually spread out in an effort to reach the objective of finding me a woman with whom to have sex.

I myself, in my search, enter someone's (strange to me) home cautiously through a screen door. I enter in the "conventional way" not by phasing, which didn't even occur to me to try. Inside I encounter my wife's entire family - sister-in-law, brother-in-law, late father-in-law and mother-in-law. Although I don't see them, I suspect my two nephews are somewhere in the house as well. I realize straight away that's the last place I want to meet a woman and have sex is in the home occupied by my wife's entire family!!! On the way out, I noticed that the sliding latch to secure the screen door has been installed on the same side as the hinges. I laugh to myself that their "Dream House" isn't so perfect after all.

Shortly after stepping back outside I realize that I am mostly alone. The crowd in the field is gone and Scott and his friends have dispersed. There is little to focus on and I wake. The time is 5:53am, a mere seven minutes before my alarm was set to go off. Whew!

    3. Tetris game using boulders

      by , 07-16-2016 at 12:53 PM
July 16, 2016: I am climbing down a steep incline of large boulders at the beach towards a tidal pool. The rocks are slippery with moss and I have to step with care. The day is bright and clear. The ocean water in the distance breaks with large waves from right to left. There is a strip of beach sand at the front of the tidal pool. The blue-green ocean waves appear to be approximately 30 yards in the distance. The boulders surround the tidal pool in a giant horse shoe shape about 300 yards wide with the open end oriented towards the ocean. The scene is quite beautiful and vivid.

As I stand on a boulder adjacent to the water, a column of rocks glide into the title pool as if it were a ship looking for its dock. I can hear voices in the distance objecting to my presence near the edge of the tidal pool. Someone throws a fist-sized rock towards me, but it falls short and splashes into the water. This is followed shortly thereafter by an apple which is thrown in my general direction which also splashes into the water. Apparently, people are playing a Tetris-like game. The tidal pool is a substitute for a giant computer screen and people on the shore are conjuring up different shapes using rocks the size of garbage pails and causing them to magically travel into the watery alcove. I realize the object of the game is to fit different configurations of boulders into specific patterns in the pool.

I watch several pieces of Tetris-boulder pieces shaped like an “I" and an “L" glide into place before yielding to the objection of the unseen players and leaving my position on the mossy boulder at the edge of the pool. I clamber up and out of the rocky horse shoe and soon find myself in what appears to be a shopping mall. I walk about the mall entering different small shops and rooms looking for my way out. I inadvertently enter what appears to be a dressing room with approximately six fully naked women, one of which is an African-American with small breasts. No one seems embarrassed or upset. I make a brief apology and leave. I wake.

    4. Long Lucid (#10); 3rd Successful supplement-driven WILD

      by , 01-19-2015 at 05:45 PM
LUCID DREAM # 10- THIRD WILD SUCCESS

January 18, 2015: Background: Megavitamin BID, 5-HTP 100mg h.s., 8mg Galantamine + 500mg Choline @ 4:00am: I go immediately back to bed after taking G and Ch. As usual, I have trouble falling asleep immediately. Had two short dream scenes in which I was 100% lucid, but could not get to “form” properly and lost after only a few moments. In the first, an attractive long, dark haired woman was slinging her pocketbook over her left shoulder - the arm furthest from me. The scene around her is vague and poorly detailed. I “yell" with my inner voice, “focus" but the scene fades instead and I “wake” a bit, recollecting that I’d taken supplements and was trying to induce an LD. After a short interval of steady breathing and relaxation with nothing more than black blankness, a scene develops in which I am making a purchase of some kind and go to the check-out counter. The “counter” greatly resembles a cheap faux-leather weight lifting bench more than a check-out counter. The woman behind the counter is the Russian woman from the movie Dodgeball with her hair up in buns and buck teeth. As this is happening, I “wake" as I hear Lynne come into the master bedroom accompanied by the sound of the door bottom scraping over the deep pile carpet as she opens, enters, and then closes the bedroom door. I hear her open the bathroom door and make her usual morning sounds for a while. I am aware that I am in my bed trying to LD, so I keep my eyes closed and remain still. This, it turns out is a FALSE AWAKENING. Lynne NEVER came into the bedroom. It was a dream all along. THIS segues into a full blown LD that lasts approximately 20 minutes.

January 18, 2015: Lucid dream: I find myself in an industrial size kitchen with Jenny G******t and Lynne. Jenny looks to be about 30 or so, Lynne looks her current age. I am 100% aware from the outset that this is a dream based upon the completely foreign setting, and because Jenny is there and way too young. I look around the huge kitchen. Lots of stainless steel appliances, pots, pans, utensils and counter tops. The walls themselves appear to be rough concrete - meant to be functional for the purpose of preparing meals for several hundred people the expense of any attractiveness. I walk up to Jenny intent on proving this is a dream. “What was the name of your first husband, I ask.” "Bob," she replies. I think to myself “Shit, she got that right.” I go up to Lynne. “What is your birthday?” She gives me a nonsensical answer and I think “WoooHoo, I’m dreaming!”

I leave the kitchen via an arched passageway that is reasonably well lit, but seems like a catacomb with built in recesses and shelves. Everyone I see is OLD, with grey hair. Not one person looks less than 80. I begin to fear I too am old, and have been committed to this horrid nursing home type place along with other aged and infirmed people in an institution whose kitchen I have just left.

As I walk the hall I come upon a man lying flat in a hospital bed against the right-hand wall. His head is away from me as I approach. The bed rails are down. He is covered by sheets but for some reason I think he has had an amputation of his right leg. I go up to him. He is reading a book in bed. I ask to see it and he hands it to me. There is a picture on the cover of a woman in a modern gymnasium setting lying flat on one of the workout machines. The picture is too small to make out much more than the fact that she is naked. The book appears to be her self-published book on bodybuilding while naked. The man throws back the sheets and I am relieved to see he has two good legs. He gets out of bed and walks from the direction I have just come, so I drop the book on his now empty bed and continue on my way.

I come upon a window on the left side of the catacomb wall which is an arched bricked affair with no glass - like you might see in a medieval castle. Inside the hall the only perceptible color is an institutional flat off-white. Outside, somewhat below me, are dozens of peaked houses with brightly colored wooden trim, shining in the bright daylight. From the window I can make out green, red, yellow and blue painted wood-trimmed Alpine--like houses built into numerous hill sides! I immediately want to escape to the outside, but fear that as a resident of this place, an alarm will sound the moment I try to escape. While looking down out of the window, I see there is an alley immediately below me where a bunch of men (employees of the facility in which I am trapped) are smoking cigarettes. I leave the window and walk on. Very shortly I come upon a short passageway also off to my left which has a very substantial door at its end. I immediately realize I have no chance whatsoever of getting out that way, but I go to try the door handle anyway. Just as I reach for the handle, the door is opened from the outside by one of the men from the alley! I am startled when he holds the door open for me and allows me to exit. My immediate concern is that I will quickly be pursued like an escaped prisoner, but no alarm is raised...so out I go!

As I walk past the remainder of the men in the alley, I ask “Where are we?” I am told “London!” Out the alley I turn left onto a much broader street. I can see it remains fairly level as far as I can see, but all the streets off of it to the right appear “down hill” and those on the left are up a bit. Because I’m concerned about being old (after all, I was in a nursing home) I chose to stay on the level road, worried that if I go downhill on one of the side streets I won’t be able to walk back up, and if I go uphill it will tax my abilities. At the first intersection I approach, a Bobby in full uniform complete with hat, whistle and gold buttons is seen standing in the middle of the road. He immediately waves me safely across to the right side of the street, and I walk down the right hand sidewalk past pubs, storefronts, and walls with air conditioners sticking out through them. The Bobby is the last dream character I see. The street has no other people or cars on it. On my left (across the street) a large blue-water harbor glistens in the sun. No boats are upon the water. However, there are light poles and benches for sitting at intervals. I walk down my side of the street marveling at all the detail. I actually laugh out loud in my dream when I remind myself that incredibly, this is a dream! I know exactly who I am, and that I’m really in my bed sleeping and dreaming and that I got “here” by taking supplements! Even more amazing, while walking down the street ruminating over where my real life self was, I remembered that in real life I had finished upgrading some parts on one of my model helicopters and if I was going to test fly it, I needed to get up early before it started to rain! After a few more moments of wandering, I decided I needed to wake up and do that. Since the dream was kind of boring with no dream characters in sight, I told myself to wake up, and I woke up! Wake time = 7:00am.

    5. New Puppy Smell in a Dream!

      by , 05-23-2014 at 03:33 PM
May 23, 2014: Dream 2 of two: I am seated alongside the hospital bed of a man I do not recognize. He has a minimally injured right hand which looks like a sprained or broken ring finger, because it is taped to his middle finger as a splint for support. Despite the tape, we shake hands and we talk as the two of us leave the room. We find ourselves standing on the red embroidered rug in the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. There is a small adorable puppy at my feet and I pick it up. It has that “new puppy” smell! The puppy belongs to the man with the injured finger. He says the puppy’s name is Clementine. He is not particularly fond of dogs, but I tell him I love this puppy. It is so cute! I secretly hope he will give it to me. I put Clementine down and it playfully romps with another, larger black dog, before the two of them playfully scamper off. When they are out of sight, I see my wife’s springer spaniel Lacey in the far distance coming towards me from the direction the two dogs ran off in.

I go to leave the casino/hotel. My car is parked in an outside lot, and is the only one visible in the deep dark of the un-illuminated lot. It is parked obliquely in front of where a rock band is set up, so I need to move the car. I get in, and Lynne appears in the passenger seat. A tall woman opens the hatch to the Nissan Pathfinder and puts in a large radio controlled helicopter which barely fits inside. A man (evidently the owner of the heli) yells to her from a distance about folding the blades, and it finally fits and she closes the hatch. I start to back up, but can’t see anything behind me that I might run into in the pitch black. The car gains more speed in reverse than I would like or is safe, and no matter how I pump on the brake with my right foot, it doesn’t slow appreciably. I switch to my left foot and also pull up on the hand parking brake. This slows us down and we finally stop. All the time the car is slowing down I am worried that we might hit something that could penetrate the rear hatch window and hurt me or Lynne, but the car finally comes to a stop without incident. I wake.

    6. My FIRST LD - Fear in the Dark

      by , 04-27-2014 at 04:38 PM
April 27, 2014: FIRST LUCID DREAM: Last night after going to bed (in real life) we received a late night phone call. After getting back in bed and reciting my mantra “I will have a lucid dream tonight” I fell asleep for real.

In my dream I had yet to fall asleep after the phone call and was merely laying in bed thinking, when I grew concerned that my wife may have shut off the wall switch that controlled the power to my bedside lamp. Without getting out of bed, I tested this by pushing the switch on the lamp several times and indeed, it did not come on. This meant that if I needed the light to write in my dream journal later on, I’d have to get out of bed to turn the wall switch on, which I did not want to do as it would risk my recall. In my dream, I got out of bed and flipped the wall switch to “ON”. The bedside lamp did not come on...but this was possible because I wasn’t sure how many times I’d flipped the switch on the bedside lamp. All of this felt totally real. Hyper-real, in fact.

As I made my way by habit and feel from the wall switch near the bedroom door back to bed, I started to sense a growing anxiety or dread about being in our bedroom in the dark. I tried to turn the bedside lamp on, but it wouldn’t come on even though I had just assured myself it should come on because the wall switch power was definitely on. I appeared to be trapped in the dark, and in my dream I started to get anxious. I started to sense there was something wrong...something amiss...but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I desperately wanted the light to come on, but had exhausted all possible remedies and didn’t know what to do next.

As my anxiety grew over the perplexing malfunctioning of the light, I had the realization...I’m DREAMING!!! This is a DREAM! That’s why the light switches don’t work! And of course...the excitement of being aware of the fact that I was experiencing my first lucid dream caused me to awake. The hyper-real experience of the dream and the joy I felt at having succeeded in having my first LD (no matter how short!) made this a most auspicious occasion!

    7. Dog Blood Everywhere

      by , 04-23-2014 at 12:41 PM
April 23, 2014: I am rummaging through an attic filled with a multitude of stacked cardboard boxes and plastic bins of various shapes and sizes. They are sloppily and haphazardly stacked, and there are no markings to indicate their contents. I am looking for something, but I don’t know what. I am finding all manner of worthless things, such as used crumpled tissues.

Now I am outside on the front lawn of my ancestral home in *********, not far from the driveway leading to the garage. I can see past the driveway, a little way onto the lawn on the other side of the driveway. There is what appears to be a wounded or dead squirrel. A bit further away, there is an adult male golden retriever standing placidly. The squirrel is face down with its legs splayed and is not moving. A blackbird or crow lands right next to it and pecks at it a couple of times. The squirrel immediately comes alive and goes crazy. It runs around frantically, in a panic, and ends up biting the golden retriever severely in its right groin area and penis, and the dog begins to bleed profusely. Blood gets distributed all over the lawn as the dog runs on the property.

The dog ends up on the front lawn, and Lynne appears. She puts two fingers on the dogs right femoral artery and the horrendous, abnormally excessive arterial bleeding stops. Now there is a small dressing on the wound, and no apparent blood on the dog or the dressing, which is white and taped in place. Lynne builds a tent around the dog to shade and protect it. The dog is weak from anemia. The dogs owners (a man and a woman) walk up to us from the direction of ****** ***** Road. We tell them what happened and they disappear.

My dead (IRL) father is on the front lawn, very close to the house. Lynne, the dog, the tent and I are close to the street. A lawn sprinkler system comes on, but instead of water, it is spraying arcs of blood from the dog which has evidently seeped through the soil into the system of pipes. Dog blood is being sprayed everywhere by the gallon every second. I get sprayed with blood and am grossed out. I yell frantically to my father to shut off the sprinkler system. In opening my mouth to yell, I get a small quantity of aerosolized blood in my mouth, enough to taste it. I wake.
