Awake to take in the view...

Title taken from my favorite song, On the Wing by Owl City.

    1. Of magic and other worlds

by , 05-09-2019 at 11:35 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
I dreamed about using the magic system I'm currently designing for my novels. I used it to hide it from people who I knew that had betrayed me (not sure what the context was). I teleported behind a stage curtain using my visualization and logical sequencing that I've been working on; I can't remember if there was an incantation or not. But there should be once I finish it.

I also flew. And I made windows in walls to escape from when they didn't previously exist. It was the night and very beautiful. At one point, when someone was trying to harm me, I used my magic and his hand went right through me. They were convinced that I was about to die, or possibly a ghost. It was super cool and pumped me up to keep working on it!
    2. When you in your dreams is completely different than you IRL.

by , 05-07-2019 at 10:29 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
A few weird dreams last night. I've been trying MILD to launch me back into LDing, but I've gotten nothing yet. Haven't been repeating the mantras enough, probably.

First dream: I get really mad at my parents because they won't let me play with toys (which makes no sense because I'm 25 lol) and I was building with Legos and a toy globe. I said something akin to "I don't want to live in this world anymore" and they flipped out. I...really don't know where that dream came from ._.

Second dream: My journal says "veil vs. not" and I'm not sure what that means. People were changing appearance/personality -- also don't know what this means. Black metal vs. pop with cats (on posters, I think?) -- I vaguely remember this, probably because I was looking at the Dark Lord Cat Facebook page shortly before bed.

The last line in my journal for last night says "We all started hearing his calming voice deep within our thoughts." I don't remember what that means, either, though I do have a vague recollection of it happening. Creepy.
    3. School dreams again.

by , 05-05-2019 at 05:51 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
My recall is slowly returning. Hopefully, this time it'll be for good.

I recently graduated from college. I had a dream that I was finishing up school, and I completely forgot about a class that I was taking. I knew the professor. I hadn't done anything for that class, and I was sure to fail and not graduate. I began quickly calculating if I could start and finish the final project in 3 days to hopefully pass. I looked at my course list and saw other courses, including one with a part A and a part B, and I had As in all of them. Except this one. I was mad about losing my steak

    4. Worst nightmare I've ever had.

by , 05-04-2019 at 07:53 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
      Non-lucid.

This tops the nightmare I had about the haunted church with the demonic shrieking choir, and the dream about the wasps crawling out of my ears.

In this dream, my dad was forced (by some evil people, if I recall correctly) to shoot a group of people. This included my brother, my sister, my aunts and uncles, some of my cousins, and others. Then, he had to shoot himself.

My mom and I were spared, for some reason, but we were forced to watch as our relatives stood there and my dad pointed the weapon at them.

I woke up before it got violent, thankfully. But holy hell my subconscious must hate me. Took me a while to fall back asleep after this one. Awful.

    5. getting back into it

by , 05-02-2019 at 07:16 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
I keep getting back into lucid dreaming and then falling out of it whenever things get too busy. This is bad. I am really trying to be more consistent from here on out.

I used to have such good recall. last night was faint, and I recall two nightmares: I had a dream about a creepy guy and his daughter, apparently. Then, I had another dream, this one about a playground for all ages including adults that was haunted/menacing. It was loosely similar to the current horror novel I'm writing. It's cool to have nightmares about your creative work; hopefully that means I'm actually creating something spooky. (:

    6. Naps and REM.

by , 05-01-2019 at 10:18 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
Sometimes, I slide into REM very quickly. People say that this isn't possible, but it happens, so.

I was going through an art tutorial, and fell asleep towards the end of it. Only for like 5-10 minutes. During this time, I had a brief dream involving being rescued by a lady from a body of water, possibly a pool or an ocean. My memory of this is very faint, but it definitely happened.

      Fascinating stuff!

    7. Massive waves

by , 09-06-2018 at 02:46 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I'm pretty sure I was lucid this past week, but only briefly and I don't have time to search for where I wrote it down as it's the first week of classes. :/

Last night, I was on a public balcony/observation deck that overlooked the ocean with my mom and possibly one or both of my siblings. There were some enormous ocean waves going on, and some even spilled over the top of the balcony. However, despite my anxiety, we kept sitting there and chatting for some reason.

Finally, one giant wave started heading towards us. It was terrifying...And then I woke up.

For whatever reason, enormous waves tend to be a recurring motif for me in my dreams...

    8. Foggy memories...

by , 08-13-2018 at 12:49 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
...are pretty much what has been constituting my dream recall lately. Haven't been lucid in a while. :/ My watch trick stopped working ever since I started using an analog watch, for whatever reason, and I haven't found another reality check that works for me.

My watch (a G-Shock) actually has a digital component, too, but it's kinda dim and hard to see so maybe that's why it hasn't worked?

That being said, last night's dream was mildly interesting.

I was flying with someone else (don't remember who) into a run-down, abandoned building in a city. There was a bat hanging from one of the rafters! And everything was dyed with this strange blue light.

Cool stuff, even if not lucid!

    9. Freaky-deaky psycho dad

by , 08-07-2018 at 05:02 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
So my family in general is pretty cool. I get along with them fine for the most part, and none of them are psycho in any way. :p

But last night I had this crazy nightmare that my dad was trying to imprison us and a bunch of other people, most of them strangers, in our house. I think he was going to kill us too or something. When he was half asleep, or drugged, or something, we were able to control him, so we instructed him to move the people out of our house, and we were planning to get out of there too before I woke up.

He was deranged. Weird look in his eyes too. It was pretty freaky-deaky for sure. o____o

Am I more prone to nightmares than the average person, or do most people experience this?
    10. Imprisoned

by , 07-22-2018 at 03:26 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
All I have written down from last night was being imprisoned somewhere. I tried to get help and escape, but I came close to getting caught. I believe I woke up before I either got caught or got away.

      Got to start somewhere.

    11. The demon in the TV

by , 02-18-2018 at 09:58 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
I was in a sunlit room in someone's house, but I was imprisoned.

Someone came to try and free me. In retrospect, I actually don't remember if I was the one imprisoned, or if I was doing the freeing.

But one of us pulled out a certain "safe container", which I can only imagine was supposed to protect us from something. It was a piece of Styrofoam in the shape of a triangular prism. I have a little sketch of it in my physical dream journal.

Then some sort of terrifying creature appeared on the TV. However, it popped out of the TV somewhat, because the creature was real (in the dream world, anyway); it was simply broadcasting itself through the TV. It looked kinda like the Mummy at Universal Studios, but the one from the advertisements, not the real LED-lit one.

It screamed at us in a creepy voice, telling me that I would not be free because it was always watching, or something. No lucidity on my part. Suffice it to say that I was glad to wake up from this one.

    12. More brief things

by , 10-08-2017 at 05:49 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
Dream recall has still been poor lately due to inconsistent sleep patterns. I'll get it down though.

First dream: A pale, strawberry blonde girl is flying, enveloped in a golden aura of light. Then the aura disappears, and she falls to her knees on the ground. Someone says "She is an angel, but all her light is gone."

      That was rather depressing.

Second dream: I recall someone giving me a large pile of change, and I was excited because I wouldn't have to deal with trying to find quarters for the laundry machine for a while (because I hardly ever pay for anything in cash, so I don't have a lot of quarters IRL). Then I woke up and realized that I still don't have any quarters.
    13. Just more lame fragments

by , 10-07-2017 at 07:31 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
I had another dream in which I was meeting Amy Lee. xD I don't even know what my brain has been up to these days.

And I had a nightmare last night, but I can't remember about what.

I need to be more consistent with my sleep patterns if I'm going to start LDing again. REM rebound only does so much before you become too chronically exhausted to take advantage of it.

    14. Only one fragment...

by , 10-01-2017 at 02:17 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
I only remember one little snippet of a dream from last night. I had a false awakening in which I woke up in the middle of the night, went to use the restroom, and then for some reason decided it would be a good idea to apply Rogaine even though it was the middle of the night, and you don't want to sleep with that stuff on because then it gets spread everywhere. xD Unfortunately, I didn't become lucid.

    15. This was awesome... :D

by , 10-01-2017 at 05:23 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I've been having a positively awful first few weeks of the semester. I think I was still in summer mode and then wham, all these assignments hit me and I wasn't quite prepared for it.

I've been forced to sacrifice a lot of sleep lately for the sake of grades, but I'm going to try really hard to do that as seldom as possible.

I did have one LD this past week. Unfortunately, I can't really remember what happened in it. But the one blessing of sleep deficits is REM rebound, so I've been taking advantage of that.

Last night I had a positively wonderful non-lucid dream. I met Amy Lee from Evanescence, who was performing at a house for a semi-private concert. We were in a basement, actually, but it was fancy and well-furnished. Tons of people there. I don't even remember if any of the other band members were there. But I actually got to talk to her, and she was very pleasant and kind. She sang, and her voice sounded amazing. After the concert, I got stuck in a mass of people and I was trying to find her in order to say goodbye to her. A friend of mine (who only existed in the dream, i.e. I have not met him in real life but in the dream he was somebody that I knew moderately well) asked me where I was going. I said, "I have to find Amy! I want to say goodbye to her!" He laughed good-naturedly and said "What, do you want to marry her or something?" xD It was like I was in elementary school again or something. And I said, honestly, "Yes, I would absolutely love that, but she's already married. I just want to say bye to her." He laughed again and let me go after that. I couldn't find her though, and then I woke up. The house was a duplex in a really nice neighborhood with some Gothic architecture and imagery, like ravens on the mailboxes. It was rather awesome, actually.

Super cool dream. I woke up very happy. It was a pleasant conclusion to a terrible week.

And I sound like such a "fanboy", ugh lol.
