ND "The Rift in the Dark Lake"
My sister and I are swimming, but not in a normal pool. It seems the lake is surrounded by a forest, and it is night time. The water is murky from the surface, but once you dive there are amazing glowing rocks on the bottom of the pool. We play some kind of game - hide and seek maybe. My sister can hold her breath almost infinitely, whilst I, not lucid, must repeatedly return to the surface for air.
Bored of my sister vanishing for so long at a time, I start splashing and making lots of noise. My sister returned to the surface and at the side of the pool she started making notes - the game was being scored. I thought we were just messing about playing. She docked me points for being noisy. I told her about my dive into the pool, claiming it worth the same amount of points, so my score wouldn't be negative.
Diving down for the one last time there is something different this time. Down amongst the glowing rocks is a tear in the universe - a rift that leads to another land. I try to reach it but feel my lungs bursting. It seems to get further away the more I try to reach it.
Disappointed, I return to the surface. My sister is now on the side of the pool and it's daytime. She shows me a plastic bag filled with tea bags, each one with a picture of an England team player printed on it. The dream ends before I can tell her about the rift.

Short LD 337 "Confronting a Dementor"
There is a road with a queue of cars moving along it slowly, leading up to a roundabout. The amount of traffic seems too much for such a small, otherwise picturesque English country town. I am walking along the side of the road with AB, my partner. We are holding hands.
We attempt to cross the roundabout, dodging cars, and make it to the far side. The grass here looks so bright it is almost yellow. Beyond the grass is a small wood. It would be peaceful, but for the road behind. This line of thought makes me wonder if this is a dream. I RC by pinching my nose and breathing in deeply with no restriction.
I kiss AB's hand goodbye and then float up into the air, starting to fly. No distractions. I want to get another TOTY done, but am struggling to recall them. Up in the sky is a cloaked dark figure, looking slightly like a Dementor from Harry Potter. I boost my flying speed and hurtle towards the figure as he tries to avoid me. I grab the robe as he flies past and the form vanishes, leaving just an empty lifeless black cloak.
Down on the ground below is a scarecrow-like construction of wood and metal, some kind of golem but lifeless. One of the tasks required burning something... did it need to be something specific? Possibly. What were the other tasks?
Fairies. Something about a fairy ring... mushrooms. Seeing the forest I start flying towards it and land at the tree line. After a couple of moments searching I spot a ring of mushrooms. They look cool. A ring of the same variety of mushroom, but all different sizes, as if they are tiny people.
I remember reading someone else complete the task and decide to try and summon the fairies. When no-one shows, I shrink and try to enter the ring of mushrooms, but cannot, and the dream fades to black.
False awakening. AB and my friend NH are in the bedroom. They are trying to print something. It is very noisy. I grumpily tell them to go away, wanting to try and get another lucid dream in before the alarm. After 'failing' to get back to sleep, not realising that I still was, I find my phone and try to read the dreamviews tasks of the year post.
Instead I find a weird dream journal that another user has posted. Their dreams are about me. That's a bit weird. The name of the user is a mis-spelling of 'Jessica'. The dream entries, which mention me by my online alias 'obfusc8' rather than by name, are dated from before I even learned about lucid dreaming. Creepy.
Before working out that this is a dream, it ends.
Rather than get up and write notes, I attempt to chain it.
Short LD 338 "Mix and Match Aliens"
Darkness gives way to hypnogogics, and then a floating picture book appears. The pages contain a selection of drawings of heads, bodies and legs from various alien looking forms. I mentally flick through the pages, having no body yet - believing that the book would provide me with the body of whatever form got chosen.
I select a spikey tall alien and feel like the dream is about to form, but instead it fades.
