    1. Basement Animals

      Ugh... This was terrible. Usually when I wake up from a nightmare, I just need to do a nose-pinch reality check to know I'm no longer dreaming and relax. But when I woke up from this one, even though I knew I wasn't dreaming, I just couldn't relax and get my heart rate down from the physical effects of the dream.

      I was in a well-lit swim apparel store, minding my own business, looking around at different items. The store was the size of an average kid's bedroom, and had flat, bamboo-like walls and light hardwood flooring. There were racks of different swimsuits and other accessories, and on the wall were suits as well. I was looking up at a grey and blue wetsuit on the wall, a few feet higher than I was tall. I jumped up in a rather slow fashion and got high enough to reach the hook; I floated up there for a few moments as I teased the hook away from the others, then fell back down, landing on my feet.

      I turned around and, without paying, left the store. The door was made of the same type of hardwood as the floor, but a bit darker; when I opened it, I walked into the basement of my house I'm currently living in. It was almost pitch-black, but I could still see the shapes of furniture in the gloom. I turned to the left and saw a door open; the room it led to was casting a pale orange light into the dark basement room, lighting me up. I looked around and nothing was illuminated except for me.

      I turned around and looked at the door again. Standing there in the entranceway, not moving, was a red fox, a bit smaller than fully grown. It was probably around two feet long and only half a foot high, and had a slightly browner coloration than a normal red fox would have. It looked at me in that instant with an almost menacing glare. I started to walk towards it and as I did, I said, "shoo". "Go away". Lines like that.

      Then it bared its teeth and leapt at my left hand, snarling in a frightening, high-pitched sort of way, and started to bite it. I felt pins and needles, numbness, and a bit of pain. I tried to forcefully shake it off, but as I did, I could feel my hand starting to fall off with it. The fox vanished and without looking at my hand, I noticed a small gray kitten sitting in the darkness, now slightly lit up with white light. It snarled and hissed, and leapt at my hand again, tearing it up more.

      I woke up.

    2. Extreme Deja Vu - Fugitive Status

      Every once in a while, I experience dreams that create intense deja vu sensations, which is pretty intriguing to me. This dream is an example of that.

      I had just walked into a public restroom. It was the kind you'd find at a McDonald's restaurant or a gas station; the cubicles were light, pale blue, and the sinks were white. As for the lighting, it was a bit dimmer than one would normally see in a public restroom, but it wasn't too noticeable and certainly wasn't an issue. The room itself was shaped like a rectangle; the entrance was along one of the longer walls, over to the right. Right when you'd walk in, there were four or five stalls in the light blue color in front of you, a few feet back against the other long wall. To the left, walk down the stalls and past them; you'd get to the sinks. They looked normal.

      I needed to go in a certain stall and get something I'd hidden there earlier. I entered the stall furthest to the right, against the corner of the room. For some reason, although I wasn't lucid, when I opened the door I expected a mirror to be on the back wall. The stall itself was fully closed, and there weren't any spaces underneath the dividers or door; finally, it was a bit narrower than a real cubicle but still spacious.

      I closed the door, sliding over a basic metal lock that was fairly rusty, and turned around to face the mirror. I can't remember exactly what I looked like, but I do know I looked fairly normal: blue eyes, brown hair, normal clothing (I can't recall what I was wearing, either). My hair was a bit messy, with some flyaways and stuff, but that was the extent of it. I looked into the mirror for a few instances, drew back, and then smashed it with my fist. Since I've used invulnerability so much in my lucids, I think it carried over into my normal dreams, and this one was no exception. I felt no pain, and saw no blood as my hand practically blasted into the mirror and into the concrete wall. The mirror shattered into larger-sized pieces and fell as one whole object onto the toilet. Behind it was a section that was punched-in because of me, and there was a small hole inside that area. I pulled a tightly-folded square piece of yellow paper out.

      The dream skipped and I was now in a mall-like setting: light-colored floor tiles, high ceilings, a few leather chairs in the aisle for people to sit down in. I was at the end of one wing of the mall, in a small Starbucks-like store right next to a major department store that was similar to Sears. It looked almost exactly like this (see the green sign on the left? That's where the store I was in was located).


      The Starbucks had a few bar tables against the walls, and a coffee shop-like atmosphere. The cashier desk was not against the wall like in a normal cafe, but by itself in the middle of the shop. There was nothing else around it; everything else, including the chairs, was against the bar tables. I was with one other person, a guy who was a bit older than me, and we were crouched down behind this cashier's desk, peering out the sides to see if anyone was coming. I knew that there was a big crowd coming after us, trying to kill us.

      I was also saying something extremely bizarre out loud. It wasn't just strange because I wasn't lucid, but also...

      "I've had this dream before... I know exactly what to do this time".

      I felt like I'd been in this dream before. I recognized the coffee shop, the mall, and the mob, and I also knew that another person would come and ruin my chances of escaping those people. I was expecting him to come, and I knew what to say this time so I wouldn't get caught. Last time, Jesse Pinkman (from the television series Breaking Bad) had come with a friend of his and asked where to hide the body of someone they killed. I'd told them to stash it in the car, which somehow caused the mob to find me and end the dream.

      Jesse and his friend appeared. They were both wearing dark gray hoodies and jeans, and Jesse was carrying a garbage bag with what looked like a body inside it. "Hey," Jesse asked with an anxious expression, "what do I do with this thing?"

      "Bury it," I said after a brief hesitation.

      They walked off, leaving me and my accomplice (just a guess) still sitting behind the bar. "We don't have to worry about the group of people anymore," I told him. "I fixed the dream."

      When I woke up, I realized I'd never dreamed of a scenario like that before, and the deja vu was generated entirely by the dream.

    3. Fragment - Charm Bracelet

      Notes:
      In real life I have a Chamilia charm bracelet, which is similar to a Pandora bracelet. The bracelet has a charm made from lavender-coloured glass, and a silver charm shaped like a sunflower, with gold accents.
      In this dream fragment, my bracelet was the same as it was in real life, or at least very similar. I had taken the bracelet off and was putting new beads on it. These plum-colored glass beads were more than twice as small as they should have been. They were tiny. Even though the bracelet itself was a thicker one, and the holes in the beads were tiny, they slid right on. Physics definitely didn't apply in this dream!

    4. Scary Play Structure

      I have no idea what time of day it was, because I was in a building with my father. We were in a dimly lit room, probably around 30x30 feet with fairly high ceilings, but not high enough to make the room feel too spacious. There were very dark shadows cast along the upper edges of the room, and the walls were a darker warm color.

      Stretching across the entire length of the room, parallel to the walls, was a black fissure; whoever fell into it would disappear into nothingness. Suspended across this fissure was a wooden bridge going a good five or so feet above it. The bridge looked brand-new, except for the fact that it didn't look polished or shiny. Under this bridge was a hollow square box made of wood; one could climb through it and go across the fissure, emerging on the other side. The box wasn't dark or shadowed inside because it was only a few feet across, the same width as the fissure. There were a few other tight tunnels going in different directions; one went diagonally up over the top of the bridge and down again onto the other side of the fissure. Inside this tunnel it was very tight, only two feet worth of space across. There were thin panels of wood placed horizontally in this tunnel that you could grab onto and step on to climb up it, and then down again.

      My dad went in that tunnel, having to squeeze in as if it were a claustrophobic underground cavern. I went in next and once I got my whole body in, the dream skipped.

      I was now on a square wooden platform on one side of the bridge, the other tunnel still being there. The platform was a few feet across both ways, and there was another rectangular piece sticking out of it. On the end of this piece was a beveled, pale blue arrow pointing to the other side of the fissure. There was a structure on the other side, the same height as the platform I was on, and it was four or five feet away. I had to jump to get to it, and "I'd win the game". Hmm.

      I jumped in an effort to get to the other platform, and the dream slowed down a bit. Slow-motion-like, I fell into the fissure. After a brief moment of falling, I suddenly stopped and began floating. A skinny dark tan hand appeared, five fingers I believe, and it had longer black pointed nails. It wasn't dangerous in the dream, but it did tap me and tickle me a bit. I curled up and put my arms and hands against my ribcage, because that's where I was (and am) the most ticklish.

    5. Fragment - Ipod

      I was in some dimly lit small room with my friend, and I was holding my ipod touch. She wanted to look at it, so I entered the unlock code, and she was able to scroll through the music. She tapped on the artist "Coldplay", and it went to the list of songs I had of theirs on my ipod.

      However, it only showed "Clocks", and I remember distinctly reading that word. She asked, "that's all you have?" and I looked at it. The other two songs I had on it loaded within a few seconds; one appeared and then the other a few moments later.

    6. Fragment - Bees

      Today was the first day of school.
      I was in a casual restaurant like the kind you'd find in a hospital. I was eating some butterscotch pudding with my dad, and I suddenly felt a lump in my mouth. Without hesitation I spat it out onto the table, and then went to the restroom. I spit out at least five different bees. They were tiny, around half the size of a thumbtack, and they fell into the sink, unmoving and presumably dead.

    7. Family Members in the Kitchen

      I was in a small kitchen. It was barely 10x15 feet, and the tiles were small beige ones. The cabinets and countertops were wood, and there were a few unwashed dishes on the counter.

      I was holding a white dinner plate, with a steak knife on it. The knife had a baked apple or something tasty-looking pulled over the blade, and I knew it would be for someone to eat. I turned around and saw a small table, big enough for four people, but one side was right up against the wall so only three people could sit down. My uncle was sitting in one chair, and my mother was sitting in the other one.

      I put the dish I was holding on the counter and sat down in the third chair. There was a dark-colored steak on the table, and I couldn't tell if it was covered in pepper or char. My mom was speaking to my uncle and telling him good news, but I can't recall what she said because first, she was doing it fairly quietly, and also because the dream wasn't extremely vivid.

    8. Gluing People to their Seats

      This dream went in two different directions.

      The first part of it involved me sitting in a classroom. The walls were white, the desks polished light tan with skinny round metal legs, and the chairs I can't remember the appearance of. The room was a normal classroom size, enough to fit twenty desks in.

      The desks were arranged in a circle, and the chairs were on the outside facing in. There was only me, one of my friends, and a teacher (who also happened to be my English teacher) in the room. He was older, probably fifty years old, and had slightly longer hair. I had put some sort of strong glue on his chair before he sat down, and I was awaiting the time when he'd try to get up! My goal for school that year was to prank every teacher I have classes with.

      My friend was sitting across the room, and we were sending minute signals back and forth to each other regarding the glue.

      The dream changed and this time, I was outside; it was around noon and the sky was clear. I was a guy (which surprised me when I woke up, I've never been one before) and my fiancee wasn't allowed to go out with me because of her strict father. She wasn't necessarily upper class or anything, so I'm still not sure how that reasoned out to the dream. Anyways, she was leaving town with her mother and father. Her appearance was similar to Rachel McAdam's character in the Notebook.

      The area was set in an earlier time period with hilly cobblestone paths and lots of tall grass along the sides. The house looked modern but with flat stones instead of bricks on the sides. The house wasn't propped up on a foundation, and instead was right on the ground.

      There was a black carriage outside; two people would sit in the front, the one on the left would control the horses. There was a space in the back for my girlfriend, and she got in, along with her parents who sat in the front. I had put strong glue on the front seat earlier, right where her father sat down. As the carriage began to drive away, I waved and started laughing because of the irony. She too started laughing and jumped off, running towards me without a suitcase or bag.

      We didn't kiss, (that would have been awkward...), but I heard the carriage driving away into the distance. The last thing I heard was her father exclaim, "I'm stuck to the seat!"

    9. Crossbow Intruder

      I was in my sister's bedroom; the lights were off but I could still outlines and there was a slight illumination coming from an unknown angle. Her room was small, around twelve by twelve feet, and the only furniture in the room was a white twin bed, positioned against the wall, and a vertical white dresser. We were both behind the bed on the floor, and because of this we couldn't see the door to her room. We were talking about random gibberish that I can't remember, and suddenly the door swung open, making a large banging sound against the wall. I looked up over the bed and saw a shady man in his thirties stalking towards us. This wasn't exactly a nightmare because it didn't have the same terror as a nightmare would have, but I was still nervous.

      My sister got up and, without saying a word, ran right past the man and out the bedroom door. Who knows why he didn't jump at the chance to attack her. So, I was still looking over the bed and realized only now that he was holding a crossbow. It was brown and fairly basic in structure; the arrows made of slightly beveled metal.

      He pointed the crossbow at me and I slunk back behind the bed. He came around the corner of it, the bow still pointing at me, and pulled it back. I pressed myself against the wall to hide myself; because of the angle he was aiming from, he'd have to move again to shoot. He came around quickly and shot me just above the forehead. I didn't feel pain or see blood, and I pulled the arrow out that actually didn't go that far into me, maybe a few centimeters.

      The dream ended.

    10. Cheshire Cat Costume

      I was right inside the main entrance of my school; the colors were slightly muted because the building was dimly lit. The building itself was large and spacious, long and rectangular, and had a triangular roof made of glass panels. The flooring consisted of large light-colored tiles, although the color was indiscernible. There were many different students within the school, and I was one of them. There was a Halloween party coming up that night, and I had to get my costume together fast because it started in an hour.

      I walked to the left and entered a locker room; it looked exactly like this except there weren't benches in the middle, and it was larger.


      There were a few other students in the room at the moment, and one of them I recognized as being my classmate. When I got to my locker, I faced her and said, "hi", then continued on without getting a reply from her. She just ignored me as if I weren't there but it didn't hurt my feelings. I opened my locker and saw a shelf, positioned in the center of my locker. On top of it were a pair of dark blue jeans, almost black, and a black sweater with blue stripes on it. I guess I was going to be the cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland (I'd never do that in real life because these clothing choices would make me look emo, but whatever). I also found a black tube at the bottom of my locker, presumably filled with face paint, but I was not going to paint my face all black! I got changed right there, putting the sweater and jeans on. I also remember putting on some sort of hat that I didn't see in my locker before, but I can't remember what it looked like.

      I exited the locker room and was now back in the main part of the school, a big, spacy area with doors to classrooms on either side. They were closed because I knew it was getting late, and the party was going to start momentarily. I continued to walk down the school and ran into four or five of my classmates. I recognized a few of them but there were some I didn't. They were all wearing plush navy blue robes, like the ones made of egyptian cotton. I looked at them and thought, I'm wearing that too, and when I looked at myself, putting my arms out in front of me, I was in fact wearing the same robe. So much for continuity.

    11. School, Mini Armadillos, the Mall

      My school's divided up into a lot of different parts. There's the massive main atrium of the school which holds middle and senior school classes. Then, there's the junior school section off to the side, and on the other side of the school was a wing for the kindergarten and nursery kids. I was in that last part mentioned. On the third floor, there was a large room (probably twenty feet long and wide) that branched off into a few different classrooms. To get to this room, you had to go up a set of stairs. These stairs were against the wall and went two floors above the main level, for a total of three floors

      I started off on the main level and then ran up the stairs, as if I were in a hurry. The stairs were wooden and had gray rubber edging on the edges, probably so the young kids wouldn't hurt themselves too badly if they tripped or something. Instead of polished wood like in real life, the railings were thick steel and looked like the kind you'd find on the edges of a hospital bed. When I got to the top of the staircase, there was a small table in the middle of the room. I went over to it and the dream skipped.

      I was now in my house; in the hallway to be exact. I can't remember what the hallway flooring looked like, but I do remember the walls were white. On the edges of the walls, like when you'd turn a corner, there was brown molding like what you'd see along the floor. The lighting was dimmer than normal but it was still bright enough to see everything. I took a few steps down the hallway, going past closed doors painted white, and came across a deep, perfectly square-shaped indent in the wall. Inside, it was lined with smooth, thin panels of wood and on the bottom were fine wood shavings. I saw a small armadillo-like creature, about the size of an adult's palm, inside. It was a fairly shiny grey color, but it also looked worn out, or rusted. Its legs weren't positioned underneath it, but they sort of came out the sides.

      It looked up at me and wobbled over to the edge of the indent, moving almost like a penguin. I picked it up and knew that it'd want to be with the others. I walked down the hallway, holding it in my hands, and entered the living room. There was a light gray carpet and the walls were the same white color, same lighting, but with none of the wood accents on the walls anymore. There was no furniture or objects except a small cage with the top part missing. It was a very wide and long cage, but not very tall. There was dollhouse furniture inside it, and there was green velvet underneath to act as a carpet. I saw three or four other armadillos inside. I looked at the one in my hand and put it in the cage with the others. As I was putting it inside, I became aware that I was dreaming and stopped to stabilize the dream a bit. "Yes, another lucid," I said to myself, rather excited. I remembered the elevator task for September, but I decided against doing it again, and then decided against my better judgement to go explore a mall. I turned away from the cage, standing up now, and looked at the wall. There was a door there now, instead of the entrance to the hallway. My dream control worked well as the door opened; I stepped into a large mall. I was on the second floor and since there was a large hole in the middle, I could see the floor below as well.

      I was beginning to lose my lucidity as I turned away and expected myself to be on the first floor. For some reason, I felt like going to Sears! It worked, and I was now on the first floor. I looked to the left and saw the Sears sign right there (distorted, of course, but recognizable). My lucidity was continuing to go down, but I now got the idea to go break into the store.


      The store was closed; two entirely-glass doors was all that stood between me and breaking in. I ran at the door and smashed it down, closing my eyes to avoid getting glass in them. I felt my eyes close but could still see, and then I opened them again. There was a cashier in a navy air attendant outfit, standing in the middle of the entrance and pointing a gun at my face. A shot rang out and I dodged it.

    12. Unbreathable Waterslide

      It was sometime in the afternoon, when the sun just starts to go down.

      I was on a sort of island, thickly laid with trees and a sandy beach, rocks, and docks for boats that floated on the surface of the water. In one part of the island, on the outside, was a cove with light, fine sand. There were palm trees all around the shore of this area. There was a small beach house that was made of wood; it looked slightly broken-down. It had the same appearance as the following picture, but it wasn't as colorful and there wasn't any rock dividers in the water.


      In the middle of the water, there was an amalgamation of water slides, all curving around a piece of flat square wood that was suspended above four square wooden pillars. The structure was like a tall table with the water slides snaking around it.

      I was initially in the water (unsure of how deep in it I was), and the next moment I was right on top of the wooden structure. There were three water slides I could choose to go down, each on different sides, and all of them were blue. I went with the one on the right, because it looked like the largest one. Who knows how I knew that, because I couldn't see the rest of any of the slides. I went down and I was now surrounded by a tube of thick plastic, or whatever water slides are made of. It was the normal size of one, too; not too tight and not too large.

      A few moments later, the slide must have gone under the surface of the water, because I was now totally consumed by water, still going down the slide at regular speed. I took a big breath right after I went under, and held it for at least a minute. The slide twisted and turned, all the while it still being full with water, and then spat me out onto the surface of the water. I didn't understand this, because the only direction it went was down, and didn't go up again. If I went under the surface of the water, how could I have ended up above it again?

    13. Debt

      I have to stop going to bed so late, my recall is suffering...

      In this dream, I was on a computer. I was sitting in a chair inside some form of wooden cabin sunroom, and I was working on a website. The page looked normal, but there was a big fat bar at the bottom, like the status bar in Internet Explorer but thicker and had a number in the lower left corner. It was currently at "0.00", probably gauging money or something.

      I closed the page I was working on, and the number changed to "-44.00", as if I were in debt for closing the page! I looked away to get something, and the number changed once more, becoming somewhere in the -200's. I remember flipping out because I didn't have the money to pay, and my mom would be so mad at me if she were to find out. What would I do?

    14. Teaching a DC Dream Control

      I was in my living room, properly lit from an unknown light source. The room was shaped like a pretty thick "L", with white walls, wood molding along the bottoms of the walls, and shiny dark brown hardwood flooring. There were two windows along the longer wall of the room; both had the same type of wood for borders as the molding along the floor. There was a pale red leather couch in the corner of the room on a diagonal, it would only seat one person because of its size. There was a small square-shaped, modern two-drawer wooden cabinet along the wall opposite of the chair. In the middle of the room was a coffee table with modern brass legs and an oval-shaped glass top.

      The rest of the room was empty, except for me and a friend of mine. I knew her in real life. We had just walked into the room and she looked at me expectantly. Although I wasn't lucid, I suddenly got the idea to teach her some dream skills. "We're dreaming, did you know that?" I asked her. And she answered, "really?"

      "Yes. Want to learn some cool stuff?"

      "Sure."

      "See that table?" I said, pointing to the coffee table, "look away from it." She obeyed and I continued to instruct. "Now, think of a package of candy. Expect it to be on the table as you turn around, visualizing it fully." At this point I was facing her and not the table. She turned around and walked towards the table; I looked at it and there was a few balls of chocolate on it. She picked one up and ate it. "Yum."

      Where the heck was my awareness?

      I was so tired last night after dance and stuff, which probably accounts for the lack of detailed dream recall.

      I was standing in the middle of a square room with white walls. It was pretty empty, but there was something like a television on one wall. I became lucid and tried to ground myself in the dream, but I already felt the lucidity waning. "Stay lucid," I said to myself, but it faded.

      I again realized I was dreaming after a few moments of walking around the room, but again lost it, even when stopping and really stabilizing and trying to think as much as I could.
