      Question Tips on flying/floating?

I had my 4th lucid this morning. In short, I jumped down the stairs and tried to float. I didn't have any luck though. Is there a method to help with floating? Thanks .

The entry can be found here.

I've never had a problem flying. you just gotta believe that itll happen and will it to happen. I usually start off by flapping my arms a couple times like a bird to get in the air then I just kind of fly around like superman

Yea, what smouse said. Believe! I've also experienced that a lot of times before, and what I did was: when I jump, and land instead, I use the landing to jump back up (I sort of bounce). It usually works for me, and I think of the bounce as "fuel" for my flight, just like running before jumping up. Good luck Luna.

      (inb4 Ladies) hahaha

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

If you have trouble accepting the idea that you can fly, try creating a dream jetpack or even a small aircraft. That's usually what I do.

Oh gosh, for the longest time flying was so hard for me. >___>
My issue was that I could start flying, but shortly after I would lose altitude and get stuck near the ground.

All I would say is that it's your doubts pulling you down. Right before bed just say a quick mantra about flying, or watch videos of birds or planes or whatnots.

As mentioned before, start off flapping your arms, then I would move onto using wings- whatever you want though.

      Good luck!

try by first doing jumps, over a box, over a car, over a house, step by step. Once you get enough air to be suspended for more than 3-5 seconds, try imagining a strong gust of wind blowing you to where you want to go. Remember the sensation and place it within the soles of your feet like a jet pack. Remember your confidence! Try to ignore whatever is telling you "No you can't do this, it's impossible and absurd" which may also be a dream character

I like to summon a jet pack or jet boots and fly that way.

Not looking at the ground might help. It certainly does when I try to walk on water.

Flying has always been natural for me in dreams, the first lucid i had i actually noticed i was lucid because i was flying. I just think "sweet i'm dreaming, that means i can fly" and poof i'm in the air. A trick that might be useful is possessing someone who could fly, and gain the power that way (this works with things like magic too). You could summon "flying pills" and then eat one and gain the ability. Or, you could jump off a really high cliff with rocks at the bottom and tell yourself if you don't fly you are gonna go splat, seeing as how most new powers come in times of need in dreams my best bet is on the last technique.

There's never really been any single way to fly; there are so many. Personally, the first time I got off the ground I was sitting in a meditating position and I imagined myself levitating to the ceiling. For the longest time I'd jump off the ground and never stay in the air, but one day it just started working. Really, it all depends on how confident you are in yourself. I spontaneously became able to fly because my past experiences in my dreams gave me the knowledge that I could do it.

As far as I know, dream control relies on two major things: your confidence and stability. If you truly believe you can do something without hindrance, you can. However, if you don't stabilize the dream beforehand, using the more intense powers (such as flying at a very high height) can cause the dream to end, so be wary of that.

Also, watch out for power lines. a couple nights ago I did a WILD and as i literally ran out out of y room (in the dream) jumped started flying, went through the window flew into the street at high speed, pulled up to avoid a bus, and hit the power lines, which caused my body to jerk violently, as if i had been shocked. needless to say that woke me up instantly.

Try saying "Up up and away!"
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

I'm not the most experienced with dream powers, because I've had only one lucid dream where I actually used a dream power. And that power was flying.

Like others have said, you have to believe in yourself. One thing that can hurt your ability to fly is if you have denial about it. One thing that I would suggest is to create conditions in which you can fly.

If you try jumping out of a window, your initial reaction will be "Oh crap, what if I can't fly!?" And that fear can make it so that you can't. If you're outside, you can try flying from standing. Once you begin to fly from a standing position, you know that you are in the air BECAUSE you can fly, not because you just fell out of a window. That should immediately build faith in your ability to fly.

Another thing that I did that helped me to fly... I was in the air and I was afraid that I might lose my ability to fly and fall to the ground. So I created a lake underneath me, so that I wouldn't be afraid of that - I would simply fall into the water and try again.

I hope I have helped in some way

I couldn't have said it better

You gotta believe that you can fly. If you doubt things you are capable of, then they won't work. That's how it goes in the dreams, believing is the key

I never had troubles with flying, because i always believed that i can do it.

That's how it happened to you. Probably because you believed that the power lines can hurt you.

When i fly, i can just pass through power lines, walls, windows or about just anything without problems. It's all about believing it ^^

Usually when I fly I think of superman. I run untill I feel it's right to take off and just jump and start flying. Use your mind for controlling where you wanna go but if you want to stick out your arms you can.

Try creating a dream flight object..

What I have done to get past the belief that a person can't just fly is...

Created a dream object that enables flight in the waking world..

I 'own' a dream microlight aircraft... It is a persistant object across multiple dreams..

The wings are pearlescent, with golden leading edges to the wings, which have double swept trailing edges like a bat wing
