Princess Jellyfish (I haven't read the manga, if there is one, but the anime, even though it's short, is pretty funny. Basically an Otaku girl who lives in a house with women who aren't considered to be pretty (by makeup etc.). She finds a guy who is considered hot, but he likes to cross dress. And all sorts of funny shit happens.

B Gata H Kei- A girl who is a virgin is trying to have 100 fuck buddies (it doesn't show sex though, it's just Ecchi/pantyshots most of the time with the occasional odd references to certain body parts :chuckle)

To Love Ru-Like B Gata H Kei, but with 10x more panty shots.

Someone already mentioned Yu Yu Hakusho, I absolutely LOVED the Chapter Black Saga from that show. Sensui was just bad-ass. To obtain a power that requires at least 40 years with discipline and having the inherent desire to correct the world around you, which requires purity, but he found a loophole when he experienced Multiple Personalities to cope with the trauma of punishing demons who sin while at the same time committing sins of murder to finish the job.

He was so innocent, it was like seeing a baby child with the mentality of a Orator, Sadistic Killer, Poet, etc. And the power of the Sacred Energy with 7 personalities = power 7-fold.

Fucking epic. He was definitely the strongest human in the series, of course, before everyone else got stronger from his tactful planning to see the demon world and hopefully see it in the demon's eyes so that is ideals that were irrefutable would become inverted, and that he would finally understand the barriers between humans and demons to find content.

Although the Manga was better because it went to the extremes (Like Makuro's dark past with her father that treated her like a sex slave....or Itsuki's passion for Sensui that made others question if it was a homosexual relationship, while the anime just made Sensui as the guy who thought of Itsuki is a partner, but not a lover, like a pawn to finish his goals).

And the fight between Mukuro and Hiei during the last tournament was freaking epic. Two cold-hearted killers finally coming to a resolution to relate to each other. And realizing that they cannot be fueled by hatred that made them stronger anymore.

Seeing Hiei use the Dragon of the Darkness Flame to break Mukuro's chains off, which was the source of her power because she thought she would forever be a slave to these chains that would not break free.

When she said to Hiei that his dragon could not hurt her, and then Hiei saying back with an almost romantic and lovey-dovey quote that she should leave her hatred in the past where it belongs, and that she doesn't have to be shackled to it anymore.

And seeing her face go from "lolwut?" to "holy mother fucking shit" when the chains break, that small *GASP* as she feels the weight of her hands feeling lighter.

The feeling of freedom, and finding the person who accepted her consciousness as if it were home to him. One of the most romantic and almost sadistic relationships in the end of the series.

I'm going to be watching Black Rock Shooter when it starts in February. The OVA was interesting, and left me wanting more, so I'm fairly excited for it. Plus I love anything even remotely related to vocaloid. XD

There's going to be a real anime for it? Nice. Found the OVA quite good as well.
Also started watching the second season of Ika Musume and it's still as funny as the first season.

Also finished Rosario+Vampire. The manga is many times better than the anime, so read it, don't watch it. The t.v. series turned it into a bunch of pervy crap and panty shots

So much... desire... to comment on Death Note following where you are..... Ahhhhhh. FYI, if you like the anime I'd bet you'll LOVE the manga. It makes it seem even more convoluted and amazing when it all comes together. :3

I watched the first four episodes of Durarara! last night, and I'm finding it unlikely that it's going to stack up very well to Baccano! While it is decent and I'll continue with it, the broken narrative seems more gimmicky in DRRR! (done for the sake of doing it and probably to be like B! rather than because it serves the story), and on the whole DRRR! seems like a pretty standard "high schoolers and supernatural shit in Tokyo" anime. It's trying to be edgy and meta, whereas B! really was beautiful and deep, and the story and style really did resonate with the themes.

Don't get me wrong, DRRR! does have fun characters and interesting situations and settings. It's just not very comparable to Baccano! so far.

That's where I stopped watching it. I knew it was coming anyway after having read a spoiler on the Internet. I'll probably pick it back up but I've already seen the last few minutes of the last episode, so I don't know if it's worth it or not.

I'm sad that season 2 is over. No more Ika-chan for quite a while. I agree about season two, the series didn't lose it's charm like some sequels tend to. I think BRS starts February 8th.

It is worth it, but... mainly because you get to see how it leads up to those last few minutes.

That's true. I'm not really watching anything else at the moment so I guess I'll watch as many episodes as I can this weekend.

Well, I just finished Death Note, and I'm not sure what to think.

Spoiler for My opinion; Dont read if you haven't finished it!:

I may just be whining because what I predicted didn't happen, but it was still a very good anime. Though short, I'd give it a 9/10, only because... umm.... someone died which made me upset.

I wasn't too bothered by the fact that

      Spoiler for Death Note:

at least when it sunk in, but I do think that it would have been much better if they managed to pick up at the same pace where they left off, but they just couldn't manage to live up to what they'd already made. Still amazing, though.

Seriously... read the manga if you have time lol. I was much more satisfied at the end than with the anime, though that same issue still persists a bit.

Does the manga end differently than the anime? Or does it just tell it in a slightly different way with maybe a few more questions answered?

It basically ends in the same way, but I think the way they portray it is a little more satisfying. As for more questions answered.... To be honest, it's been a few years since I either read the manga or watched the anime. What I can tell you is that the manga has a LOT more detail to everything, and will explain more that's going on per scene, it doesn't hold back at all. (Yes, the anime was holding back. ) I wasn't left confused at the end.

I could never get into any of the big 3 (Naruto, Bleach and One Piece). I always thought they were too cliché and boring. But I didn't grow up on anime, so I guess that's understandable. I think animetake is a good site for, um, "previewing."

Those are not the Big 3. If you're going for long and mainstream anime, there's also DBZ, Pokemon, Gundam Wing, Ruroni Kenshin, Inuyasha, Sailor Moon, Lupin III and YuYu Hakusho. Just to name a few. Although I'd consider none of those my favorite, as long as you're naming the big ones you can't leave them out.

My problem with shows like naruto, bleach and dbz is that you got to watch them all at once, tuning in every week to catch the next episode is like... torture. Almost nothing happens in any individual episode. That's why I prefer series that keep it to 26 episodes, the story moves faster and there's less filler. I don't mind filler when it reveals something about the character, because then the story still feels like it's moving. But srsly wtf is the point of Naruto seasons 4 and 5?

Shippuden is actually a bit cooler than the original, if only because it's more mature and they're not afraid to show a little blood. But to understand the story of shippuden you only need to watch the first 3 seasons of naruto.

Overall I like naruto's story, the themes are pretty deep for a kids show and there's a lot of underlying philosophy, but I can't stand the act of watching it.

Ghost in the Shell is hard to watch for a different reason, it moves too quickly. Rather than show the philosophy over a period of several episodes, complicated philosophies are discussed in passing conversation that end up being pertinent to the story later. It requires you to pay attention to some rather boring content at times because the pay-off sneaks up on you and if you weren't paying attention to the intellectual discussions you'll miss out. Don't get me wrong, I love Ghost in the Shell but sometimes I wish they'd do more show rather than tell. But I really do love GITS immensely. My favorite anime though has got to be Trigun because the philosophy is all in the interactions between the characters, putting different obstacles in front of different characters and testing them to show the difference between what you strive to be and what you're forced become. At first it leads you on thinking it's going to be a light, funny anime because Vash can overcome any obstacle but all that is just setup and eventually the rug gets pulled out from under him.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
