Anyone here also feels that offline games aren't as fun after you start playing online games? Skyrim seems loads of fun, but the fact that the experience is offline (you can't show off your achievements or play with friends), steals a lot of it's beauty. And yes, I know this is a weird thing to hear from a passionate lucid dreamer

Playing Gunz:the duel becomes 10 times more fun when this random portuguese guy plays with me: we barely know anything about each other's lives, but we have such a good synergy (always protecting each other during Team Death matches, and making jokes even if we are in different teams). Come to think about it, the best gaming times I ever had was when I raided with my 25 man guild: wiping over and over then killing the boss with 24 other people you know is a great feeling ^^

With Skyrim definitely, luckily they are bringing out an MMORPG version next year! Can't wait!

I feel kind of bad though when I play games like COD:Ghosts going around shooting other people.. I know it's just a game and you respawn when you die, just something about it feels wrong on some level. The single player campaign is very enjoyable though.

      Meanwhile I've been playing.....
      -AntiChamber
      -Divinity: Dragon Commander
      -Path of Exile
-Might & Magic: Duel of Champions
      -Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Skyrim isn't meant to be played with others, it's a raw single player experience. Its probably because I've played every single elder scrolls since daggerfall that I feel that way though.
Vanilla skyrim is extremely easy, even on master difficulty, so there would be little point to show off what you found. The game mechanics are actually quite bland too, skyrim really stands out when you start to follow the lore and try to immerse yourself fully.

I think it really depends on your gaming past. I started off with sega mega, ps1 and DOS games when there was a huge emphasis on single player games. A lot of my friends would have started gaming during the PS2 and PS3 scenes and it's clear that they cannot value the beauty of single player games.

Although I definitely felt that way for games like Age of mythology and minecraft. They're fun on there own but much more rewarding when playing online.

Often I feel like online games are purposely dumbed down to quicken the rewarding sensation, battlefield and cod being great examples of all that wrong in the game world today.
I'm a real junkie for completing insanely hard stuff, so in that sense its logical that I do enjoy single player most of the time.

It mainly comes down to what type of gaming you where first introduced to.

Battlefield 2 modern warfare offline in ps2.
      I know it's old(game and ps2), but I'm not so wealthy.
But don't forget, the first wealth is health.
I fill my heart with fire, with passion, passion for what makes me nostalgic. A unique perspective fuels my fire, makes me discover new passions, more nostalgia. I love it.

Not from the same producers, and not the same combat system. I heard some people saying it is very a like guild wars 2, and on top it requires a subscription. We'll see how it goes, if it follows the original elder scrolls strengths, then we have a winner ^^

Yup, I must say I get a little disappointed when I see youtube videos of people killing end-game bosses and I'm like "all he did was shoot arrows at the thing!". But compared to that, the game has so much content that those flaws are forgivable right away, and with all the mods, you can define your own experience (hardcore play seems fun )

Mhm. I agree totally with the fact that nowadays online games seem to cater to the casual player and seem like a box with dopamine with some gameplay attached I also started in the era of sega (can't remember the one before that one), and did no multiplayer what so ever for almost a decade (until I got internet on my computer, and even still, I only played runescape for some years, which is mostly singleplayer if you want to "complete" the game).
I think in part I also have to blame myself: before I try a game, I read dozens of websites with loads of information, so it kinda spoils the experience a bit. Things were so fun before internet came out and we had no way of finding the best/secret stuff inside a game other than by ourselves/friends, that's why Neverwinter is my favorite rpg of all time

I agree fully. So many hours spent looking in all the nooks and crannies of games for secret places. I must have spent 20 hours on each crash bandicoot just looking for hidden gems.
With the internet available nothing stays a secret. What makes it worse is that the game publishers usually tell everyone about it too, instead of letting people figure it out themselves.

I'm guessing number 1, I got it for free on Steam. I totally agree about the game lore I really love how deeply involved people are with it and I can see why. Myself, I'm an old skool gamer but I grew up with FPS games like quake, doom and ROTT not to mention typical sega/NES games donkey kong, crash bandicoot, alex the kidd, etc. Heck our first computer was called an Amstrad that took thousands of lines of codes just to play one game, if you got one error in the code the whole game wouldn't work, and that code had to be entered each time. It wasn't until I got bored of FPS that I started playing RPG's. I played a lot of RTS too and now I get so quickly bored with games I swap and change like no tomorrow. Waiting for the real matrix to come online

Hrm, no. I mean, I never played Skyrim just because sword-and-sorcery has limited appeal for me--the only thing that ever did get me playing tabletop D&D or WoW was that I had friends playing them. In genres I enjoy, though, all my best gaming experiences have been 1P: Civilization, Fallout, Mass Effect, and recently The Last of Us. I do enjoy online gaming, too, but it's a rare game and a rare time in my life where I can dedicate the time to skill up (or just be around) enough to be active in a guild/clan or have a lot of online friends. Also, multiplayer gaming, whether online or in person, is just a different experience than playing through a game's story. It's more of a pass-time and tends to all run together, for me at least, whereas a good story or sandbox game can really stick with you.

Back on topic, my only recent gaming was a COD:BO2 zombies marathon with family over the holidays, and a bit of solo Plague, Inc. (also a great 1P game!).

In the recent steam sale I picked up Spelunky, Risk of Rain, Dream, Shelter, The Walking Dead: Season 2, The Stanley Parable and DayZ Standalone. I've also been playing a lot of Skullgirls recently.

Found a used 3DS at a local resale shop for a ridiculously good price. Right now I'm playing Etrian Odyssey 4, and I'm starting to think that it has a place among my favorite games of all time. It's an extremely oldschool first-person dungeon crawler, with a very bare-bones plot and intensely deep gameplay mechanics.

You can make your own party of up to 5 members at a time from 9 or so different job classes, with up to 25 extra characters in reserve. Each individual team member has his or her own skill tree that can be filled out as levels are gained, but the scarcity of skill points makes each decision a very big deal for the outcome of the specific build, which encourages levelling multiple characters of the same class in order to cover different strengths and weaknesses. For example, the medic class has spells for healing HP and status ailments on different paths, which suggests using one medic for straight healing and another for controlling debuffs. Each dungeon has a variety of enemies, so sometimes you might want to bring along a completely unique party to exploit each's specific weakness. The game is hard enough that such strategy is an absolute necessity.

The music is excellent, and the dungeons are challenging and long. The crafting system for items and gear is also intuitive and rewarding. All around, I'd give it a 10/10. If you can find a 3DS for a good price, this game alone makes the purchase worth it.

I decided to pick up some old games that I had beaten awhile ago ^^, so I'm playing Torchlight 2 (elite hardcore) and Borderlands 2 (ultimate vault hunter mode) right now. Oh and I started gunz again (inspired by Zoth)! tried playing on Universe Gamers Gunz but I only found about 5 people out of at least 1000 that were from USA like me, so I went to that freestyle server instead .

Tales of the Abyss and Fire Emblem: Awakening. I seem to be one of the few people who still like JRPGs.

Finished ace of combat. What a game
I fill my heart with fire, with passion, passion for what makes me nostalgic. A unique perspective fuels my fire, makes me discover new passions, more nostalgia. I love it.

Amazon has an all region import for the PS3, it's not very expensive either. Would be nice imo to have an actual hard copy.

re: Plat. in Diablo3 and decided to get Remember Me instead of KoA, should be in the mail today or tomorrow.

I've been in the mood to play Tales of Vesperia again recently. I miss that game...
