Bullshit.

Looks like typical media hyperbole to me, and the article is severely lacking in... facts. Are there any articles in scientific journals about this? Because there is no way to determine anything about what his mental change was and what his new activities are from this article.

The man's own description, that he sees 'pieces of the Pythagorean theorem everywhere' and that his drawings are representations of it, doesn't make any mathematical sense. The Pythagorean theorem is a very terse statement about a very specific object, you can't break it into 'pieces' and it has no important relevance to trees or spirals. It looks to me like he has just become very interested in making painstaking geometrical drawings, which, although cool, is just one of many cases where head trauma has caused a personality shift (the most famous case of this being Phineas Gage, and a weird recent one being that of Chris Birch who turned from a rugby player into an effeminate gay man).

If however he has gained substantive cognitive ability this is very interesting.
