Yeah did you not see that I said they align from Earths point of view so its like a galaxy eclipse and it is a phenomenon that only happens every 23 thousand or so years, which is why the Mayans ended the era then.

Our solar system has been clearly mapped and plotted in the public eye for many years and there is nothing to indicate any special alignments or events in the near future.

The supposed 2012 alignments are based off nothing but rumor.

Not to say I know there is nothing significant about that date, but if there is, it obviously has nothing to do with planetary/galactic alignments and such.

This thread has been posted in the Lucid Dreaming forum and the OP discusses how 2012 relates to Lucid Dreaming. If you continue to go off the mark, this will be moved to beyond dreaming.

I personally don't think it belongs here anyway. It should be in ED imo.

But anyway, yea, I have seen people talking about this being a possibility before. People say it will be a change in the state of mind of people, and I suppose lucid dreaming could be involved in that theory.

I'm not going to go on about my beliefs though, it would bring up a whole other argument.

That said, it would be fantastic if such an alignment of the heavens somehow linked everyone's dreams telepathically. Those who already know how to remain lucid in dreams and control them, of course, would probably enjoy it the most initially.

"Extremely unlikely" is pretty much how I would describe it. The OP didn't really give any theories as to why it may happen; I could just as easily say that 2012 will cause all animals to turn a different bright color based on their original habitat. Wouldn't it be cool to go to the zoo and see blue tigers and green bears?

Yeah, no shit it is extremely unlikely. But it is an interesting idea that was quickly made dull by a flood of "THAT WON'T HAPPEN...DURRRRRR" type posts.

There are people in the world who believe that lucid dreaming is extremely unlikely and yet here we are, in a forum devoted to the discussion of lucid dreaming and the myriad of topics that revolve in the same orbit.

One thing I do agree with you about, though, is that this thread belongs in ED.

I've had preminitions of something like this occuring for years, I always thought it was far fetched but seeing that other people think its far fetched makes me think its possible again.

It should be noted that Lucid Dreaming is supported by loads upon loads of scientific evidence and eye-witness accounts, whereas 2012 speculations are just that: speculations. Science has some weak, shaky evidence that if all the variables align just so, the world could come to an end, etc, but it also seems that the doomsday-preachers can't get their facts straight, either. We have no solid evidence of what to expect on 2012, or that anything will even happen...preaching the end of the world or other highly implausible scenarios is what really gets us nowhere.

Move to ED, please. I just went and made it a debate, I think....

Do you understand that I could replace "everyone lucid dreams" with "it will constantly rain gumdrops" in your original argument, and it will still have the scientific merit as before? And by that, I mean none? You provide no reason (or evidence) for us to put any faith into your on-the-spot "what-if" scenario.

Also, if this thread's getting derailed into general 2012 theories (instead of what could've been (can still become) a valid discussion, that is, "What changes in society would take place if everyone lucid dreams?"), then I'll be forced to either move it, lock it, or merge it with an existing 2012 thread. OP's choice.

Well reecejones87's theory is sort of like this. it goes way more into detail, but basically it would be a paradigm shift, causing everyone to be on a heightened vibrational pattern. And if you know about meditation, you probably know that higher vibrations are good for people like us, doing deep stuff with the brain. He even went as far as to point out certain precursors which supported his idea, like influxes of lots of people eating healthier (to be in top physical shape for the shift) and heightened amounts of Deja Vu.

Now still, this is just another theory, but it's quite interesting. I'll try and link the videos once he makes the new ones. He's remaking them without specifically pointing out 2012 so that he doesn't get all those basket-cases strolling in because they searched that date, like what happened before.

if everyone became lucid dreamers, then this place wouldn't be special anymore... :/
i seriously doubt something that awesome would happen, maybe world peace? even that sounds pretty unlikely.

Here's what I want you to do: go get a basketball, a tennis ball, and a ping-pong ball, representing the center of the galaxy, the sun, and the earth respectively. Now first, notice that the sun and the galaxy make a perfect line (as a line is defined by two points, as Scatterbrain was saying). Now, make the earth revolve around the sun. Keep in mind, each time it revolves is one year. How many times does it form a perfect line with the center? TWICE. This alignment, which you said occurs every 23 thousand years, happens every six months.

well in what you were talking about with lines you assumed this all takes place on a flat plane. The earth, like most orbital objects, can move up and down in it's orbit. This is the same reason that solar and lunar eclipses aren't monthly.

Ah, that's right. I made the approximation that the galaxy is a perfect disc. When really, it's more likely that our orbit is slightly tilted in relation to the galaxy's center than not. My bad.

But, what exactly does alignment do, again? How do you propose it produces higher vibration?

I have absolutely no idea. Most of the stuff in the videos I talked about was way over my head. And the videos were privatized, so I can't even go back and look. I just thought it was an interesting theory. It may also have to do with a revelation Reece Jones which he called the Awakening.

Actually, this would be true provided the ice was floating free in the ocean, when it is not. The southern ice cap is resting atop a load of other ice and dirt and crap, being elevated out of the water. Should it melt, it would be adding a load of water right into the system...also, think of the penguins! Have you any soul at all?
