Red face Quick qestion about sex dreams.

I've been having sex dreams pretty regularly, nearly everyday, for a long time. Sometimes it's just a lot of foreplay, but probably ninety percent of the time it's actual intercourse. It's ridiculous. I thought maybe it's just because I wanted sex so I kept dreaming about it. But even right after I've had sex with people and gone to sleep I dream that I'm having having it again!

I know I have a pretty high sex drive, but seriously, what is going on with me. And I'm a twenty year old female, haha so I'm not just some horny teenage boy.

**Thread moved to General Dream Discussion**

You need not be a boy to have a high sex drive. Lots of women here report sexually-themed dreams.

Perhaps you might try some of the techniques outlied in the MILD Tutorial and relax before bed, visualize your desired dream and/or say a mantra. It might help you incubate some new images and experiences.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes in two weeks.

If there's any more information you wish to share it can only help us answer your question better.

You don't happen to take any medication. Nearly everysingle medicine ties into sex in some way.

Oh now that I think about it, they may have started back around the time I was put on new meds (Buspirone and Zoloft.)

Oh yaa I can see it straight away. Buspirone and zoloft arre both ssri's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) which almost always cuases sexual side effects. usually they have a slight effect on your libido but they also have an undoubted effect on sex dreams. I take peppermint and st johns wort (also an antidepressant) as a dream enhancer and one of the side effects is extremely sexual dreams.

I can't believe I never thought of that. Thank you. It kind of scared me when I first started taking them because I kept reading that the side affects are often a really low libido, not being able to achieve orgasm, etc. That definitely isn't what happened for me though haha. Oh well, I guess I should be grateful that this is the only side affect I'm having. I can definitely live with copious sex dreams.

      Hi dutchraptor,
I'm curious about peppermint and St. Johns Wort as dream enhancers. What form do you take, how much, how often, and what are the results?

Here it goes (from what I can remember) I took around three cups of fresh peppermint tea and one cup of st johns wort tea, usually spread throughout the night or just before sleep. The main results where dreams that always verged on the extreme, either extremely logical, extremely unusual, or extremely sexual. Over all the peppermint tea and st johns wort tea combination worked very well, definitely not placebo.

However lately I've been experimenting with peppermint capsules only and there is absolutely no effect on my dreams. It could be the lack of st johns wort (and sometimes horse chestnut leaves) but I believe it is because the aroma of mint is what causes the effect. It seems to me that the peppermint is only effective when you take it fresh and you can smell it strongly.

point is, only the fresh form worked for me. It worked as an orally ingested paste I made as well.
