Animated dreams? Or Video game type dreams?

I was meaning to post this for a while now!

Animated dreams? (Yes, like a cartoon and game related!) Anyone ever had these?
I wanted to ask this because most folks I personally know don't have them. So, who else out there have animated/cartoon dreams? What animation style do you experience most frequently, and what are the plots and interactions like with the dream characters?

How much direct control do you have over these dreams? Lucid or Non-lucid.

My dreams are always realistic, but there are often things from video games and movies thrown in. It usually depends on things I've recently watched, but, occasionally, things I've forgotten exist show up (such as Just Cause 3 and inFamous: Second Son elements).

There doesn't seem to be any difference in lucidity than in other dreams, but, right now, I can't really say that with accuracy, since I only ever get lucid if I do my mindfulness routine, which is close to impossible for me to do right now.

one dream i had, was back around 2011, 2012, or 2013.
i had been playing the Sims 3, on computer, without the internet.
had a dream that included a mix of some of the characters, and actual people i knew at the time.
not sure what the dream meant, but anyway.
sometime after, i lost the game.
      and, haven't played it since.

Years ago I had many Minecraft themed dreams though the dreamworld's environment was always more realistic and in recent years I've had dreams based on other voxel games. I have had World of Warcraft dreams for a long time, even when I haven't played the game at all for months, but years ago at first, these dreams would have fit better into the game world logic than they do now, now they're looser and tell their own stories much more.

I've had some other dreams where there were segments that were either like videos or animations, but they have been few. I don't remember ever dreaming of any cartoons I've watched, but that doesn't mean I haven't had any, just none I can recall anymore.

My overall "control" over all types of dreams has increased over the years, despite the fact that I almost only have non-lucid dreams. Perhaps because I have increasingly come to accept that I have little control over most things in waking life? My dad is the same in this regard though.
Singled out from some of my favourite quotes from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri: "Risks of [Planet] flowering: considerable. But rewards of godhood: who can measure? - Usurper Judaa'Maar: Courage: to question."

And just as I said I don't have such dreams, I have had a dream which included segments of both Terraria-esque and Minecraft-ish scenes.

Back when I was a video game addict playing 8-14 hours a day, many dreams were inside video game worlds. I don't play video games very often anymore, but I still have occasional dreams of Diablo 2 or WoW. Sometimes Minecraft if I've secretly binged recently.

I don't think I dream of cartoons at all. That would be strange. I can't even imagine getting lucid in that setting.

It's strange because I have been in a cartoon in a hallucinogenic trip (I was seeing the world as a 2D cartoon) but I also don't recall dreaming about a cartoon as most of you. I only remember dreaming in animated graphics if it's a game and even then, the graphics seem better than the original game. Because I didn't own a console as a kid, my game dreams were mostly me getting to play a game at a cousin's house. In these dreams, there were specific games I got to play that don't exist in reality. In the dream as in reality, I always kind of wished I got to play more of it. As a kid, the only action game I owned was the classic Tomb Raider games and so I had lots of dreams about those. Interestingly, I never dreamed about the actual levels. But there were recurrent levels. One in particular was in an Egyptian tomb and every time I dreamed, I got either stuck at the same spot or got a bit further, but every time, I remembered playing the game from a previous dream. In that way, these dream levels are as vivid in my memory as the actual game's levels. Another such level was like an underwater maze with sharks inside a tower with winged enemies guarding a gated bridge. I also had car game dreams influenced by Midtown Madness, in more complex cities than in the original game. There's also Super Mario levels in 3D. I used to revisit a "choose your level" 3D area which felt very familiar. Oh yes, like the Super Mario Nintendo 64, where I would jump through paintings to get to other levels and gain keys to access other parts of the castle. Other than those three 3D games, I've mostly have had dreams about 2D platformers, with all sorts of strange enemies and parkour challenges. Waking up, I always felt disheartened that they weren't real games and I couldn't continue, but now I guess I ought to appreciate the creativity and the graphics of some of those dreams. Like some of you mentioned, it's always been unlikely that I become lucid as I have those dreams, but something that was particularly consistent about these dreams is the sense of familiarity, remembering having dreamed/played this before.

Yep! It was insane. I prefer social interaction now (bonus: it's healthier).

Yeah, it's almost like the game world has real-life graphics, even if it is just a Super Nintendo game. At least, that's my experience.

I did remember one cartoon dream, from when I was a child (I did have a dream journal from back then). It had Mickey Mouse, Goofie, etc., at the beach. Very realistic, like real life with cartoon characters embedded into it. A pleasant memory.

Some of my cartoon dreams are like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", "The Mask" or even Space Jam. I remember being Sonic the Hedgehog but, I kept getting stuck. :/

Back in 2019 Super Nintendo Related.

Lucid: I had a dream where I was watching some cartoon on the computer as some characters were flying around in the scene then the next moment, I was sucked into the computer and then flew next to a DC for a split second. Then I was back observing the cartoon as a viewer, again. I remember there was a point where that character was flying very close to floating spinning propellers... I remember covering my eyes and saying rather loudly, "Oh! Oh my god!! I can't watch!!"
She was able to steer clear of one but, the next one her friend wasn't so lucky. This was when I figured out that it was a dream because I question what I was doing the second ago. I recall that I turned my hand transparent, put my hand through the screen. I pulled her away from the floating spinning propellers with my giant hands. I remember feeling the small character in my hand. It was like if you were to hold a little salamander that squirmed in your hands? Then I woke up.
Also, Does anyone here remember Wacky Races? I've also, have had dreams about Channel Surfing and something about being in that cartoon, along with Topcat. They felt as real as regular people.
