Unhappy I give up because I believe it is impossible for me to become lucid..

I am pretty much sure it's impossible for me.. After 2+ years of on & off intense attempts. I give up, my recall really sucks, only once in a while do I remember one good dream.. I think about lucid dreaming, honestly probably more than 30 times a day.. I get on DV whenever I have the opportunity and I am constantly trying induction techniques.. So I'm near convinced that I am one of the few that was born to NOT dream... It's sad.. All my friends (all of which have pretty exciting/full lives) have shown me they can LD in some way or another.. Usually..

"Hey, do you have Lucid Dreams?"

      "What are those?"

"It's when you are dreaming, you know you are dreaming and you can control it."

      "Oh, I love those!"

I however don't have much in my waking life and I want to have fun in my dreams only twice have I had (just barely) a lucid..

      Goals:
Consistently for two weeks recall at least one dream per night [ ]

I have offered to adopt you and to teach you in the DVA. Please hit me up on my offers.

If you don't become lucid it's your own fault for not taking these opportunities.

Don´t fucking give up, never ever ever! You should take everything you can out of life, you don´t want to think in your dying bed, "I´m a loser, I wasted my life", and LDing is one of the biggest things you can achieve. Put your everything to it! You know who really has hard time becoming lucid? A friend of mine who can only move his head. Now that´s a challenge.

You can do it! Maybe you find your success in the NovaDreamer device, or the supplements. Or maybe you haven´t even tried all the basic techs.

I think it has to do with that mentality, you need to sit down and think about why you really want to LD, make a list of reasons. Then, tell yourself that you want to meet these goals.

Ghost is right you shouldn't give up. But you don't need to waste money on lucid aids. I will help you, you just need to accept my aid first.

Hey man, I have been going at lucid dreaming for years and have only managed a handful. It took me over a year to get my first, so I can relate. As the others said, don't give up! It isn't just about the technique, screw the techniques, it is about the mindset and the kind of effort put into it! If you have doubts you are going to become lucid, then of course it won't happen! Try to get excited over it again, I am sure after 2 years that excitement has turned into frustration which doesn't help your cause. Perhaps it is best for you to take a 2 week breather and give up, but come back afterwards!

In regards to techniques, the one thing I think is really necessary is a dream journal. You need to do it every morning no matter how much (or little) you remember. Don't do it on the computer, don't do a recording, writing it by hand in a nice, special journal with a cool design is the best idea until you raise your recall. Don't just write it to get it over with, have fun with it, remember the details and excitement in the dream! Draw little pictures by interesting parts to try and portray what it was like. If you have someone that is willing, share your dreams with them in full detail! Their excitement will help boost your motivation, much like a reward saying "You are doing good! Keep going!"

Also, don't get lost in "Every non-lucid is a waste of time." One thing I learned is that it is best to appreciate every dream, enjoy them. Sure you weren't lucid, bummer try next time, but you still have this awesome experience to look back on (or at least you will when your recall goes up). Even one large chunk of a good dream can be an incredible motivator.

Also, set aside one morning of the week just to sleep in as long as you need to have lots of dreams. If you already get alot of sleep, or aren't active, this isn't a good idea, but otherwise go for it! This doesn't mean you can't have lucid dreams on the other days, this day is simply set apart for am extra big dose.

If you just can't get your motivation up, watch a dream-related movie or read a dream-related book/story, or at least one that in some way reminds you of them. While reading/watching put yourself in their shoes and try to really experience it as if that was YOUR dream that was recorded. This never fails to boost your excitement at least a little. If you can't find any good movies or books regarding dreams, (and I don't mean educational books or documentaries, I mean fun story books, novels, adventure movies) search for someone on the forum who has lots of lucids and look through a few of their more exciting ones.

You can do it mate! It is all in your mind, forget the techniques, if you fail you fail! Your main goal and purpose should be to have fun with it. Much like a sport, if you aren't having fun while learning, you won't have the motivation nor effort put into it and you just won't do well in it. If you aren't having fun trying to lucid dream, well there goes any hope of success! Play a game with your subconscious, ok so your subconscious has 2 years on you, but just wait until you are the lucid master! Hah, then you can show it just how much you really are in control.

I hope to see you back on the forums, we are always here for support! You can do it!

If you've made up your mind, no one else is gonna change it.
We can say"don't give up!" etc. All we want, but motivation to persevere will only come from you.
If you can't do it alone- no problem! I read that Zebrah is willing to adopt you: that's an offer too good to refuse, he's an awesome help, even entrusted to run classes on lucid dreaming.
Not sucking up, just saying he knows his stuff.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.

If all else fails, take a break for a week or two. You may be trying too hard. Lots of people have done this and had a spontaneous LD right after quitting.

Ah, since this was posted yesterday.

2 years isn't much, I had to wait 8 years to get my very first induced LD, and the wait was worth it, you might be too stressed right now, so just take a small break from it for a few days/weeks, you might be surprised with the results of that. One thing to have in mind is, never stress about dreaming, because stress is a big enemy of it.

Forget the rest of these posts. If you've been trying for 2 years already, you need to change what you're doing.

You're not doing your reality checks right, simple as that. I used to do hundreds of reality checks a day, thinking that I was doing them right, but I wasn't, and didn't have a single lucid dream for weeks on end until I changed my method. Now I do about 15-20 reality checks spontaneously throughout the day, and started having lucid dreams again.

Try this, and I guarantee you'll have a lucid dream within 3 weeks.
Get lucid dreaming off your mind. You need to practice snapping out of your present state of mind, and into lucidity. So, while you're going about your day, and you remember to reality check, instantly believe that what you're looking at is a dream. The only way to become lucid inside of this dream is to become lucid, so you need to increase your awareness, first and foremost. Do that. Look around the room you're in, and try to find anything out of the ordinary. Once your awareness is heightened, then you need to do a reality check to confirm that you're in a dream. Plug your nose, and try to breathe through it. If you can breathe through it, tada! You're lucid. Rub your hands together immediately to stabilize.

Don't do another reality check again until lucid dreaming completely slips your mind. Once you think of lucid dreaming, do the same thing I said above again, but as I said, make sure you become LUCID when you do it. In other words, realize that what you're looking at is probably a dream. When you become lucid, you should feel as though you're snapping out of your frame of mind and becoming more aware of what you're doing.

      Got it?

Everybody can have lucid dreams; don't trip.

I second this question. A little off topic and you can do it, stay with it, but how is every topic you have posted highlighted in yellow?

LDing is free, doubt Zebrah will want to ruin that and make you pay him <.<
Also, I become lucid solely using RCs, but yeah, take a break, and tell us how it goes.
