      Spontanous LDs

So, I had my first lucid dream last night ( ). It lasted about ten seconds, but anyway, it was odd because I didn't RC, or notice something weird, or anything. I just thought "I'm dreaming" and realized I was. This ever happen to anyone?

That always happens to me, I'd say in about 99% of my LDs. I then end up seeing if there's anything strange to confirm that I'm asleep. Awareness will cause lucidity, not dream signs or RCs. They're used mostly for confirmation.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Ok It wasn't the most eventful LD. I was in a plain room, and realized I was dreaming. I felt like I was floating, kinda, and then

When I come to think about it, all my DILD's were pretty much spontaneous but i did a reality check afterwards to stabilize, so yea I'd say its pretty normal. The more you start questioning your waking reality and whether its a dream, the more this behaviour will carry on to dreams which could further lead to more spontaneous lucidity.

Most all of my LD's have been spontaneous like that. It just snaps, and I really don't even have to do a reality check because it's so obvious. I've only ever recognized a dream sign once to gain lucidity, and had one false awakening where I gained lucidity. Other than that, all others have been very spontaneous just like you described.

Like Puffin said, the increase in awareness is what will cause most of them for you. If you aren't aware, your dream signs will basically be slapping you in the face, like they do to me, and I don't even notice. Those are the times that you are kicking yourself when you wake for not noticing them in the dream. My brain seems to like to mess with me, cause I'll have such obvious dream signs...multiple dream signs...they might as well be yelling at me that I'm dreaming, but I go along with the dream as if they weren't even there.
