What can you ACTIVELY do to help induce LDs?

      Right now, my routine is:
I go to bed, repeat my mantra, wake up for WBTB, repeat my mantra again, and hope for the best. I feel as if I actually have no control over trying to induce an LD. It all feels random to me. I have never had a DILD that was caused by MILD, WBTB wtc...

I've only had a few (short) LDs which have happened at random times but not during the period where I actually put in effort and practice MILD, most were during periods where I gave up. It has come to a point that LDing seems impossible for me to do... I have sudden surges in confidence only to be shot back down a couple of months later because I hadn't had any (induced) LDs in that frame of time. I feel very unconfident now as I can't even induce a LD using one of the easiest methods with a high success rate... This cycle seems to go on and on as you may have noticed from my previous posts.

Heh, may have let myself ramble a bit too much there... Back on topic. What can I actively do, ie something that isn't based on "luck" like mantras, to help induce a LD?

reality checks, and all day awareness. http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/ ,That's the guide that helped me get started. I'm still fairly new as well, with only a few lucid dreams under my belt, but I can attest to Reality checks and Awareness being the key factor in them. When I stopped RCing and being aware, I stopped having lucids. RC and Awareness can be done all day or any time of the day

Edited to add: http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/all-da...gyoshi-113253/ <- is a tutorial just about all day awareness, and pretty helpful as well

Most important thing is that you believe in yourself and know, that you can lucid dream. If you not confident, it will not happen. Read some posts like 'my first ld' and get psyched up. Make a plan for your first LD. Happy dreams

I'm working on my own technique now that is being created from two others and a totem I have had on me since I was 10. My routine is...

      1. lay in bed and think of my day backwards and frontwards until I remember all of the important details (I've found that remembering your waking life improves your dream recall)
      2. Sit up cross legged, meditate to relaxation and then practice the "look at your hands technique/mantra" while rolling my totem (a 1922 silver peace coin, over my knuckles, which I do all the time in my waking life)
      3. Go to bed using my MILD mantra
      4. Wake up, type my dreams.
      5. go back to bed while gently reminding me of my hands for a few minutes and then continuing my MILD mantra
      6. Have a LD
      7. Wake up, feel stoked and then realize I'm late for work after recording my dreams.
