Im sad to hear that your dreams are disturbing you so much. Especially your lucid dreams, it sounds very intense to me. My first impulse would be to say work with your dreams and try to find peace with them. |

Um sorry to say this but your problem isn't lucid dreaming, not the first time this happens around the forum. If you want to supress REM sleep take melatonin or a beer, both of those should take it away, but even without REM you will still have lucids, a lucid dream, even though it is considered a disorder does not cause lose of sleep and won't make someone fatigued. I know at least 3 people who are natural at this and they don't have the problem you do, one of them has been taken to a lab in order to test this even and didn't show any sign that lucidity = less restful sleep, so it may be something else. Whatever else that is making you less rested is also causing you to gain lucidity naturally, however I don't know enough as to what that may be. |

Thank you to both of you for offering some advice. I will look into the tea. I thought it was considered a lucid dream. From what I've read on here a lucid dream is a dream where you know your asleep and you control what you're doing in the dream. If I'm not grasping it please let me know so I'm not saying the wrong thing. I am thinking about doing a sleep lab but I do t know what it will do. These types of dreams run in my family. My sister suffers from the same thing and the feeling of sleep deprivation after a full nights sleep. We both thought it was normal. From what I've read it's not of the norm to be able to take a quick 10 minute nap and have a full vivid or lucid dream. I love the tea idea though at bedtime, I don't like medicine. Thank you both, I guess well see if it works. |

No no, you ARE having lucid dreams. But the lucid dreams are not the cause of the problem. It is more like the problem IS the cause of the lucid dreams, as I said before, lucidity doesn't seems to disrupt how restful the night will be, despite altering the logic center of the brain by waking it up. |

Oh, I understand now. I've been to my regular doctor about the fatigue, she just put me on vitamin supplements. When she ran my bloodwork everything was completely normal (my vitamin d was low but nothing crazy). I hope a sleep lab can find the problem. Do you think it could be sleep apnea, have you heard of that causing lucid dreams? That would explain fatigue, but I'm still so new to the world lucid dreams. I appreciate your helping. |

LB82, I agree w/ Hukif that the lucids are not causing the lack of restful sleep. This does not sound like sleep apnea either (apnea is when you stop breathing while sleeping). There are actually several sleep disorders or other issues which could cause unrestful sleep or chronic drowsiness. I highly recommend seeing a different doctor if your doctor's only solution was to put you on vitamin supplements. Lately I have been studying neurology articles on sleep disorders partly to understand a sleep disorder of my own (Isolated Sleep Paralysis), so maybe I can help point you in the right direction. One cause could be Idiopathic Hypersomnia, especially if you are sleeping in excess of eight hours per night and taking frequent naps, but still not feeling rested. Restless leg syndrome or low thyroid function could also be a cause. Testing thyroid function may be the easiest place to start. If this is not the case, you may want to find a doctor or psychiatrist if specializes in sleep disorders to help diagnose you. A sleep study definitely should help diagnose your problem. |
