      Dream Within a Dream

So a couple of nights ago I had this interesting situation where I went to sleep from within a dream and had a dream there as well. Then I awoke from that dream back into the previous dream and recognized it from the dream. Has this ever happened to you?

      Here is the dream...

Spoiler for Two Layers Down and One Hell of a Nightmare:

Just wondering if anything like this has ever happened to you because personally I think it was kinda cool.

      See ya!

Oh! That’s great. I haven’t experienced the dream within a dream. Sounds interesting.

Hi First of all, you should know it is impossible to have a dream within a dream. It was all the same dream. All that happened was you went to "sleep" in the dream and when you opened your eyes you were at a different dream scene. It might have felt like a dream within a dream but it wasn't. Awesome you got lucid though

Darn, there went a bunch of stuff I wanted to try after watching "Inception".

Well, it stilll really fellt like it beause I was in one dream scene and went to sleep, then I guess the scene changed and then when I 'woke back up' it was back to the first dream scene. My brain is a sneaky little fellow I guess.

If you were to go into another dream in your dream which is impossible it would be so unstable and unclear.

Yeah a couple of times. I remember entering a lucid state in a dream, but was going through a crappy period in my life and i thought to myself well im thinking about what happened for days now, sure as hell not going to think about while im dreaming. So i just went to sleep on purpose in my dream, faded out but still aware, just at a low level to where you lose control.

Well, I recently had another experience that was similar to this. I guess since it is impossible, could someone give me the science behind why, or what exactly is going on? I am actually really curious now about the science behind it all.

      Here is the dream though...

Personally, I think it is nothing more than the way you choose to phrase it. If you wake up from one dream into another dream, and want to consider it a dream within a dream, I don't think anybody can contradict you. It is something completely within your mind, nobody else can get in there to see it ... how can they tell you it is impossible to have a dream within a dream?

Maybe if we ever get to a point where it is somehow possible to record a dream, but until then .... (Wonder if we ever will find a way to record dreams? Would be very, very cool!)

Ya that would be pretty awesome, although I would be worried about other people seeing some of the stuff I do in my dreams. 0_0. lol just kidding. Glad someone finally didn't get on just to tell me how impossible it was.

I had a dream within a dream too! Sorta. It was like 5 years ago. Before, a lot of my dreams were in 3rd person view

So I saw myself fall asleep from behind and the scene suddenly changed to... I actually can't remember since it was 5 years ago...

Lol. Still pretty interesting to see yourself fall asleep from the dream. I have also had those ones that are in third person view. They are very strange if you ask me.
