      The Perfect Technique

What if we found one. A way to induce lucid dreams that works every time, for anyone, and can work from the very first try. Just think about what that would mean.

I think if we ever reached this point, its use throughout our culture would explode. Within a few decades, it would be a common activity among youth, I think. (what kid doesn't want to try flying?)

So many cases of personal anxiety, loneliness, fear, and regret could be healed, and we could each have our own adventures. I suppose not all lucid dreams are positive, but for me at least every one has been, and amazingly so. It's changed my perspective, with a sense of freedom, knowing that I have, in a sense, a 'virtual universe', created in my own mind.

It's fascinating to think what would happen if we did find one.

I agree! The reason why so many people never lucid dream or give up is because the work it takes to achieve them. If there was a technique that works every single time, that would be amazing. Lucid dreaming would definitely be more discussed.

I'd picture it as some kind of EILD + supplements. It would be great because lucidity would be so reliably induced that it would finally make it's way through therapeutic areas.

Trying out MILD? This is how you become skilled at it.

I'm not sure if such a thing is possible, is a bit like saying there is a perfect way to have sex, we all are so different and like and need different things to work for us.
I agree tho it would be great to see the world really get into LDing

I do not agree... I think that sex is pretty easy.

I think that we need to find a way to activate the front lobe. That is why I think that activating the left brain hemisphere is good. (http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...-lucidity.html). The problem is that it doesn't work, so what we need is to find something that keeps it active. The problem with that of course is that it keeps you awake.

We can begin by testing the devices that are already out there!

So far I have only seen Dream masks though, and both me and my friends have tried them out, and the problem with them is that even though you see the signal the dream or your own faully logic tricks you to think that it's something else, like "Oh I forgot to put my dream mask off when I am in school embarrasssing..." And another problem is that it's not very comfortable to wear.

Also, in order to find an induction method or even to begin working on a device that we want to make sure really works, we need to understand the cause of lucidity and non-lucidity in the first place. And that is a very difficult thing to do because we are basically then taking on one of the most difficult philosophical questions there is to answer:
      What is awareness?

There are however things that we can assume that can work as a start to start going in the direction of a perfect lucidity device.

And that is critical thinking. If we can find out how the logical areas of the brain shut down during our dreams we can skip the philosophical problem of awareness and use critical thinking as a starting point. Because if we think critically within a dream, it will surely sooner or later make us aware that it is a dream.

It turns out though, that there already are theories based on this idea!

I told my skeptic parents about lucid dreaming, and they didn't believed me. But then one morning my mom said that she had have one, and I asked her how it happened and she answered that it happened after she snoozed from her alarm clock. So without believing and without even trying she got her first lucid dream.

I combined this idea of waking up with an idea of Hobbes theory of the brain's aminergic system relation to critical thinking, and with some other theories can kind of come up with this explanation and induction of crtical thinking and how that information can be used for lucid dreaming inductions:

I am not saying that this is the answer we are looking for, and it is probably a too advanced theory to describe to the general public.

But perhaps it's a good starting point, I mean what if the best lucidity device actually just is a slightly more customisable alarm clock?

In my ears that sounds like an easy and not too complicated device for lucidity.

Even if this post might not end up inspiring the whole world, it might inspire the oneironauts that now exists.

      Sweet dreams!
