You have exactly same chance for sleep paralysis when lucid dreaming as when you sleeping normally, as in, really really really low, most of people don't experience it and for most of those who do it's once/twice through lifetime experience, i haven't experienced it at all and i am practicing lucid dreaming for almost a year. Sleep paralysis is not related to lucid dreaming in any way, so don't need to worry!

      Hello

I never had sleep paralysis untill i started experimenting with choline inositol suppliments before bed, if you do fancy seing what SP feels like take 2 before sleeping. For me it worked. Interesting experience, i woke up about 3 hours after falling asleep, before i opened my eyes i got the vibrations everyone keeps talkin about, i was seing flash bangs in my eyelids then silence. I opened my eyes only to feel myself frozen in position. Time however was going at half speed, i felt myself slowly roll over to hold my missus, only to realise i hadnt moved at all!! It was at this point panic set in. I eventually came round and sensationa back in my body came and i could move again, heart pounding i struggled to get back to sleep.

      Spooky shit

You really need not worry about sleep paralysis. If it's not something you're chronically experiencing normally then lucid dreaming shouldn't increase your chances.

There is a lot of misinformation around the net regarding sleep paralysis. You needn't worry.

i can only speak from experience but it actually did happen to me. i never had any sleep paralysis or lucid dreams until 2 years ago when i was 19 when i randomly had my first lucid dream without trying but the shock of it put me into sleep paralysis, ever since then i have had spontaneous lucid dreams and now occasionally suffer from sleep paralysis.

also personally i find sleep paralysis more annoying than frighting as i don't really get any hallucinations of scary images like the old hag (i think it's because i started having it later in life instead of from childhood)

Have you consider the possibility that it's not SP? Because SP is not related to lucid dreaming. If you have SP more often, than you have SP disorder, whether you LD or not.

unfortunately it definitely is sleep paralysis (not sure what else it could actually even be), but as i say i can only speak from my own experience as both the sleep paralysis and lucid dreams started at exactly the same time without having a previous history of either of these things. but then this might just be a very rare coincidence.
