      Everyone is calling us RETARD

I'm a chinese and everyone are possibly not effected by the Western culture, but not me. I love LD so I've told some of my friends and family about LD, they did not believe what I said, even there was proof. I've told them they can use lucid dreaming to achieve the impossibilities, they convinced me that I can't be obsessed with the untrue and there is no benefits in lucid dreaming.... AND THEY CALLED ME PYSCHO, RETARD AND IDIOT.....

Not to be an asshole but if they cant take information that is true and actually believe its true even though they obviously see it is then they are stupid

Something similar happened to me, I tried to tell some people about LD and lots of them just thought I was crazy. On the other hand, when I taught my family about it they became interested and so did some friends. I guess I just had better luck. LD is not a very extended phenomenon other than in the USA (that's my impression), sleep is often seen as the opposite of awareness so it's understandable that people don't believe in being "awake" in your dreams.

That's a good thing to hear, you need to be happy that you can lucid dream and they can't. The rest does not matter

I quit sharing with others as judgement is usually all you get. I want to share with some friends but am really waiting for the right moment.

Well I think that's just a lame response. People shouldn't judge something like that what they even don't know almost nothing about. I think people are just being judgful but many of them actually don't know nothing about it. I think no one should judge anything before there is any proof or before that person knows something about something. It is just stupid to judge without knowing anything about that thing you judge. LD has many benefits and much improvement can be achieved in many things and also it brings to a spiritual growth which is really important. Through LD and meditation people actually become more aware of themselves and everything what's happening around and they vecome more peaceful. So I think everyone should try to meditate and LD. I think for those who judge all the time and call other people by names like weirdo and etc. would be amzed if they ever experienced LD and benefits from it.

Well seriously - what would you expect? This is of course a topic that's not easy for a lot of people to wrap their heads around and understand and it's also at least somewhat related to esoterics and the like and people just tend to think of it as unbelievable and untrue. I really don't think you can expect people to understand, believe or care about this pastime, even when a reaction such as the one that you got is a little over the line maybe. I've personally not told a whole bunch of people about lucid dreaming, but those I did tell a little about this were either uninterested, didn't buy it was possible or already knew about this, but why would it bother me? It's my own thing, it's not like it can easily be shared among friends anyway and I don't need anyone to get involved. I'm a very social person - but there's things that are exclusive to yourself and are better that way. Sure it's cool if you can exchange experiences and ideas with other people but again, it's a hard to grasp topic that consists of so many subtopics that you could hardly expect everyone to be very open-minded about it.
But I also don't really know what you guys are doing, because I've never gotten judgement like you. Maybe I'm just lucky or keep the right kind of people around me.

Some people are more receptive than others, usually people who already have a strong interest in dreams will be more inclined to try it or at least listen.. For the most part I quit talking to people about it unless I have reason to believe they'd be interested. The normal response I'd get when talking about LD with people was something like "Well that sounds stupid, what's the point? It's not real." And I'm thinking of course it's not real that's the entire point, you watch TV or read books don't you? It's like creating and living your own story on the fly. Some people just don't get it. There's really no reason to try changing someone's mind about it; if they aren't interested or have a bad opinion it's them missing out not you and me.

Interestingly, someone that is retarded is not able to do everything that others can do. So who are the retarded ones?

I get similar reactions from some people. Most people just respond with "why?" This is especially true when people find out that it took me two years of trying before I had my first lucid dream. "Why would anyone try that hard for something?" I didn't have much to say in return back then, but now I do. Lucid dreaming has changed my life in dramatic ways. The realization that I have control over what happens in my mind, whether I'm asleep or awake, is a big deal. In two years I went from being completely paralyzed and locked in my own home by anxiety to where now everyone assumes I'm actually an extravert and could never imagine my even being shy.

I had pretty much the same response from people I told about it (most, there were exceptions).
I told my parents a while ago and both obviously thought about that as strange but were too polite I guess to insult me in any way. However since I read about LD for the first time years ago, a lot has changed for the better. Let's just keep up and maybe one day retards will be ones who don't practice LD

Ha ha, it's definitely their loss. Why don't you throw eggs at them in your next lucid? :3

I tend not to talk about it too often. I will if the subject of dreams or anything like that comes up, but otherwise I don't see much point in talking about it unless I reach some kind of goal. If I do reach a goal, then I'll tell either my girlfriend or one of my other close friends who knows about this sorta thing.

When I told some of my relatives, it didn't interest them, and all of them said "I don't have time for doing that" or "That is way too complicated" and now they think I'm (even more) weird. But hey, it's their loss.
Sometimes I surprise myself wondering how would my character sheet be.

Your problem is that you have a compulsion to share. Dreams are the most intimate experience possible for an individual, lucid dreams perhaps even more so.

I tend to keep my lucid experience and my dream content private now. It's a shame that there seems to be almost a taboo status attached to dreams by some people.

When it comes to the negative reaction I always think, "Pearls before swine"!

They are too fucking dumb (no offense really)
It's fairly simple to believe that you can just control a dream.

A friend first told me about LDing. After school I went hours searching on he Internet about it. I just couldn't sleep that night. Sadly he left lucid dreaming. It kinda makes me sad. I've told people about LDing, most of the time they seemed interested but not enough to spend actual time on it. Actually no one really called me retard or something, the worst thing I got was ignorance.

Sucks that your family feels that way. But don't let them pressure you out of what you feel is good. It's your life, live it how you want.

You have close-minded excuses for "friends".

      Your family, though...
