Thread: Common Things Only in Dreams

Have you noticed there are common themes in many dreams? I wonder why that is.

Here are some examples:
Naked in Public
Flying
Teeth Falling Out
Zombies
Running in Slow Motion
Being Chased
Killing People
Can't Scream
Random Sex

What have you noticed a lot of people seem to dream about? Why do you think that is?

How about:
Falling,

being in a movie/game/book (possibly due to thinking a lot about it as a residue?),

Not sure if this would be a "theme" and if other people have it too but a lot of times when I gain lucidity it feels like I'm kicked out of the dream, like i'm not supposed to be aware that I'm there or something (i don't really mean due to excitement but that could count too i guess, but rather by DC's, my subconscious or something else like a mechanism design to prevent me at least to be aware),

Would nightmares count as one or perhaps the theme of the nightmare could be a common thing - eg. clowns, insects, demons. (don't really have much nightmares so not sure the cause for most people's)

I think that not being able to scream sometimes can be due to the sleep paralysis? I've had times where I couldn't scream but then suddenly woke up with a jerk screaming.

If anyone believes in this, or you have seen this on another website about dreams, those are mostly messages Subconscious is telling you lol. I would expect someone would say that,

I ALWAYS get jelly legs when I try to run fast!
or when im fighting someone I cant seem to do damage with punches

Usually every time I try to run I just have no traction--like, the gravity is too low to run at a decent speed.

I wonder why random sex happens only in dreams ( no i am kidding )

aren't those certain things meant to represent fears/problems in waking life?

Being with somebody famous...for some reason I am notorious to have this dream and I never pick up on it being a dream sign. Just last night, I dreamt I was on stage singing my heart out with Whitney Houston!

A couple more common ones for me that weren't in the list:

Tornadoes
Ghosts/Demons
Someone trying to break in

People having a lot of these dreams in common is significant. I think that it is implying that a lot of us deal with very similar problems and these problems are expressed through these common dreams.

- Trying to get someplace, you are already late, but you can never get there, because of everything breaking down on you.
- Going through mazes

Could be that we are connecting to "Universal subconscience" that has same meaning for all of us?

Being back in school and failing somehow (can't find the class, halfway through the semester and forgot to go to a class the whole time, etc.)

I always get the being chased and slow motion running ones...no fun when it's the same dream!

+ Where's my (car / keys / class)?
+ What classes have I signed up for this term? What's my class schedule? Am I even in school any more?
+ I'm late to my test!

In fact I almost missed a final exam in in real life in college. It was 12-3 and I thought it was 5-8. I just happened to go into our students office that had a classmate in it around 2pm who had finished early, he asked me "what did you think of the test?" and I freaked. I ran at top speed probably faster than ever before in my life. I was so high on adrenaline I finished the entire exam in the last hour. I was an RA for the prof so he gave me extra time to check my answers, I didn't change much. I got the high score on the exam

Wow teeths falling is definitely a common thing; freaks the hell out of me every time I wake up from this kind of dream.
