Exclamation Just finished talking to a natural lucid dreamer

so i just found out my mates mum is a lucid dreamer, she couldn't understand what was soo hard about it because she's always dreamed lucid dreams and almost wouldn't understand that you can have dreams that aren't lucid and/or fully controlled.

Trippy aye!? anyone els know someone like this?

Its super easy, actually, to become lucid. Most of the time, you dont even have to know about reality checks. If you see something really odd and only in dreams, you can do what you want.

My mom is not a "natural" lucid dreamer in the sense that she always had lucid dreams but in the sense that she started developing that naturally over time without knowing what lucid dreams are or that people are actively cultivating them. All she did is started a dream journal and lucidity just showed up naturally after a while.

No one agrees on what "natural" actually means, but what we do know for sure is that there's an army of noobs absolutely desperate to be called "a natural".

My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

...which is something I will never fully understand. I am personally obsessed with learning new skills, whatever they may be, consuming many hours of the day for years. If someone called me a "natural" at any of these things I would be offended.

I do believe that some people have natural talent, defined by myself as being an ability to learn faster at a particular skill, but the idea that someone can hardly train and best everyone who trains everyday is just absurd to me. Of course I could easily be wrong; lucid dreaming is after all not a "physical" skill.

      Just my skeptical opinion.

I agree with you mostly. I would define a natural as someone who picks up skills at an above average pace usually, but I reckon some people live a "lucid lifestyle without knowing it (very self aware or deep thinkers etc) which in turn = them having LD's without much effort = that to me is a natural lucid dreamer

I think natural is the perfect explanation - many children have lucid dreams long before they know or understand what it is that's happening - pretty sure they weren't trying to become lucid . . . It happened 'naturally'. Some people can sing without learning how - it's part of who they are - time allows them to hone their skills and get even better over time. I can't sing and don't have a voice for it - it is not natural to me and never will be . . . I'd have to be taught and learn how to. I play guitar but had to teach myself - it didn't come naturally. I'm sure some people will never learn how to LD and it doesn't come naturally to them for sure.

Good points, both. Certainly one can lucid dream spontaneously at any age, even very young. I was more referring to the claim that some in the past have made on DV that "I looked at a piano and started playing like Beethoven." Yes anything is possible, however the difference here is huge; to be somewhat skilled at something naturally or to be absolutely perfect without any practice. Just to clarify.
