I feel like giving up trying to lucid dream because of sleeping pattern? Any tips?

I have a hard time with my sleeping pattern but I did once have a whole week sleeping at a certain time and waking up at a certain time. But it's been months trying to get a sleeping pattern a few things will happen to me like going to sleep in the afternoon (not intentional) or as it gets to 6-8 at night I will not feel tired anymore. Also on my days off (college) I always turn my alarm off and make a new one for hours later.

Can someone help me please? I will appreciate it soo much! Thankyou

I would say lucid dreaming is somehow similar to lottery. Everything you do for lucid dreaming is like buying another ticket, so the more tickets you buy the more chances you have of wining.
In other words, having a regular sleep pattern helps, but it is not a requirement.
In my opinion is much more important to work on dream recall, do meaningful RCs during the day, and visualizing what you will do in your next LD.
EDIT: Oh, and doing WBTB is like buying 10 extra lottery tickets!

No worries my man, a sleep schedule isn't the only thing to get you lucid. Definitely agree with Bharmo though on WBTB, probably the single most effective technique for me.

Even if u have one day, sleep 6hrs, wake up and get out of bed, literally force yourself out of bed, for a couple mins but not enough to wake ya too much. Then get back into your bed and visualize the dream you want to have.

You can trust it will work even better if you write out what dream you want to have right now. Then you can visualize it as you go back to bed in ur WBTB. You've probably heard of that as incubating the dream.

But yo, relax and have faith. <That's probably my best advice

Bro, a consistent sleeping pattern does so much for you. Not only does it help your recall, but I feel that it improves your overall success with LDing. Whenever I stick to a consistent sleep cycle, I wake up remembering everything, even the first dream of the night and my level of awareness in that dream. On the other hand, when I sleep whenever and give in to my tiredness, my dreams reflect that. I only remember certain dreams during the night and fragments.

If you really want it man, you won't make excuses. Of course we all have school or jobs or whatever, but try to find something that would fit in and revolve around that schedule. I really feel that your body preforms better(and especially your mind) when it has something it can stick too. Of course, you can set your alarm for hours later on a day off, that really increases LD chances, but try to go to bed the same time every night with the exception of fridays and saturdays if you're the party type or you're always out.

Whenever you feel like quitting, remember where you came from. Most of all, remember why you started.

      Goals:
-Become Lucid in every dream every night
      -Perfect the time dilation watch
-Continue to have a dream plan for most of my lucid dreams

As everyone else has said having a regular sleeping pattern will really help you! Just speaking from my POV it definitely helped me when I changed jobs which had irregular shifts to a 9 to 5 job, I definitely knew the differences and it really has helped me. Since I have alot of experience lucid dreaming I just stick to DILDS since I can have lucid dreams on command now.

Overall sleep and mental conditions are incredibly important for dreaming and LDing, at least for me. Being well-rested, in a positive and relaxed state of mind, and having a regular sleep schedule can mean the difference between a few poor LDs/month vs. a dozen awesome LDs in a single week. Because this is exactly how it happens for me.

A regular sleeping pattern definitely helps, but I wouldn't know, I don't have one either. I don't think going to bed at a certain time every day is a big deal though, what matters is getting that full amount of sleep. Regardless of the time of day/night. You wanna hit all those REM periods, after all.

I have non-24, so I go to bed later and later each day until I pretty much cycle around the clock, sleeping one half of the month during the day and the other half during the night. I have never slept at the same time for more than two nights in a row, and I was able to start lucid dreaming.

Just keep a dream journal going and write in it no matter what time you wake up, you'll get there
