I don't think traveling in lucid dreams compares well with traveling in real life, because in dreams you can't take pictures or videos to keep, you don't get to spend as much time at your destination, and the stabilization, clarity, detail, and memory of the event isn't as good as in real life. Lucid dreaming is great as a supplement to traveling but is not so great as a replacement.

That said, it's really nice to have better than a fifty/fifty chance of having a lucid dream each night. It makes sleeping a lot more fun!

I agree with Dolphin. Choosing to travel in dreams "instead in real life" kind of sucks but if you can't afford to travel or something else prevents you than I guess its fine. But yeah, the experience won't be the same. For me when I use to lucid dream almost every night it was fun at times but I remember wanting to take a break from lucid dreaming after doing it a lot. : P But I guess it depends how long your lucid dreams are those nights and the quantity.

You know.. Eating in dreams doesn't actually give you energy/calories so you can't do that. You can only enjoy the taste of something.

Also it's really fun! Sometimes I get lucid once a night a few days in a row and it's just like having it once in a while, only more often

Travelling in dreams is one thing, travelling in waking is another.

I do a lot of dream travels to wonderful, extravagant places every day. But use them mostly for stuff I would never be able to visit in waking that doesn ot even exist, why make less of a life dream? Make it so that the dream experience is just the first step and so that later on you can experience it instead. Never give up, because when one gives up it is when one finally starts to lose.

Having a lucid dream every night feels like you're living two lives, especially if your dream recall is up to par. I disagree with the others, I think travelling in dreams can be just as fun and real as waking life. If you really maintain self awareness within a lucid dream, everything is just as clear, vivid, and most of the time for me, way more vivid than waking life. With my recall, I can remember everything that happened in the dream, so memory isn't a problem. And if you're having LDs every night, chances are memory is never a problem. When I was getting lucid every night(about a year and a half ago) I was remembering the entire dream. Time also isn't a big deal either imo. You can dilate time, and if you don't dilate time you can just maintain your awareness and stabilize. In my experience with lucid dreams, as long as I'm aware and I keep the dream stable, I seem to stay in the dream for as long as I keep those 2 things going.

So all in all, I'm going to have to say that traveling in dreams can definitely match up to traveling in waking life, and more often than not, traveling in dreams can surpass the experience of traveling in waking life(IMO and experience). I think the key factor to really getting the most of out of traveling in dreams is Time. If you control time or get your lucid dreams to regularly last over an hour each time, you're good.

There's a reason your brain is more active while dreaming than it is while awake, and there's also a reason why 90% of people don't recognize they're dreaming. Dreams are just as real as waking life, and sometimes even more real. If your brain can create entire worlds every night and most people can't recognize that its not waking life, then clarity isn't a problem.

So really, I think the quality of your travels in lucid dreams, all comes down to your level of awareness and stability in the dream, as well as your dream recall.

I remember a few months ago It was taking me anywhere from 1 to 3 hours to TYPE up ONE dream. That's why I compare dreams to a second life. This stuff is a lot more real than most think imo.

Indeed they are as good as real travels, but the point still stands right? To pursue the dream of travelling in waking and then, one day make it happen while keeping the dream travel to awesome unseen worlds. Or at least, that is how I see it.

I used to lucid dream 5-7 times a week a few years back. You would be surprised about how fast you run out of things to do, but how quickly you can come up with new stuff. At least, that is how it is for me personally.
I like to pair what I work on in lucids with what I am feeling in real life. For me, lucid dreaming every night was a sort of personal therapy that I should really get back into. It helped a lot.

      Anyways, that's my take.

In the end its just a fabrication by your mind. Even if its vivid or however you want to describe it. Are the ones you care about even by your side during the experience? Everyone is different I suppose and handles being in a dream for quite some time differently. Just thought I add on to what I said for those who didn't understand me.

What does it feel like? Well, it feels pretty good!

Keep in mind though, that successfully developing the ability to LD relatively consistently (much less nightly) can take a long time, a lot of work, and some serious patience. You might find it easier to get a job to pay for travel and food than it is to learn to simulate those things in your dreams.

Speaking of that: I'm not sure that wanting to save money is the best rationale for taking up LD'ing; it might even keep you from becoming serious enough about the practice. But if that mindset works for you, then more power to you!

That said: The good thing about LD'ing is that it is a very flexible activity -- meaning you can do anything you want to do in a LD. Once you have developed the skills necessary to LD nightly and conjure arguably difficult scenarios like travel or eating, you might find doors opening to much more interesting or creative journeys... so go ahead and have travel and eating as goals, because, if they hold your focus on LD'ing, they are just as good as any other goals.

Oh, and I'm sure someone's already said this, but keep in mind that dream food is not real food!

Why are you telling me this? XD It still doesn't change my mind that being with the ones I care about is better than being on a lucid vacation.

You missed the point DreamCafe lolol. My point was that this reality could very well just be a fabrication of your mind just as dreams are. After all, our minds are more active during REM sleep than while awake. The goal wasn't to change your mind, it was to get you thinking about the realness of this reality.

We do see the things around us because of our mind. Just like we do in a dream. With our mind. But even if it was similar reality is still not a dream. When I said fabrication of the mind I meant that its still a "dream" no matter how it feels.
