Ide probaly dial it back to the bare basics. and that's awareness in my opinion. Pay attention to yourself in waking life more. Pay attention to the things in your room that you just glance over at this point. ie: that book shelf. see whats actually on there, its probaly been awhile. Pay attention to the color of that car that just drove by,etc etc. I'd recommend the Dream Yoga Class in Dream Academy.(or the Dream Academy in general; its where I started.) As gab said,Mantras are useful. And dont throw away,or be dissapointed because your dream was a non-lucid. To be honest, this is my 2nd time learning Lucid Dreams, and im at a point where im basicly Lucid in my dream, awareness wise, but Im not rushing the next step of becoming lucid again because non-lucids with high awareness are actually interesting, and has built another layer of appreciation for them. And with everything, consistency is a must, though you seem to have that part down. assuming those 5 years were day-by-day effort.
