      Anyone enjoy nightmares?

Everyone i talk to HATES nightmares. I know people that take medicine just to keep from dreaming so they cant have nightmares. I think im the only one who enjoys them. Im scared during the nightmare, but when i wake up, im like "that was fucking awesome". For me its kinda like a haunted house or horror movie. Your scared during them, but after its over you love them.

A couple times during lucids i purposely tried to scared myself by having a werewolf chase me through the woods at night...no joke. lol...im warped in the head i know

Right here, my man. I don't often have nightmares, but the few I do have I'm more fascinated with than scared of. I had one a few weeks ago with this kamikaze earwig thing that actually woke me up, and when it did, I was like, "Did that seriously just wake me up? Awesome!"

For those with recurring nightmares, however, I imagine it would get on your nerves a bit. Of course, giving up dreams altogether is madness! Why not learn lucid dreaming and take control, and enjoy yourself along the way?

I agree nightmares are awesome just after you wake up. I'm more surpised when I wake up because since I can't lucid dream yet I had thought it was real.

      I HEAR YOU
I actually love nightmares, when I was little I used to hate them,
and I can actually kind of "choose" when to have a nightmare, its weird to explain
      but yeah =D
AND YOU JUST GAVE ME A GREAT IDEA
I have been having trouble to become lucid in my dreams, and I haven't had a nightmare in a long time. Tonight I'll try to have a nightmare and I usually become lucid in nightmares waaay easier than in "normal" dreams (4 times lucid in nightmares, only once in lucid dreams), so tonight, I'll see if I can have a nightmare and become lucid

I rarely have nightmares but like you said, it can scare the shit out of you in the moment but when you wake up you feel such a rush. But it also sucks when you wake up from it cause then, if you're like me, you'll be too afraid to get out of bed to take to take a leak .

I love nightmares =] and horror movies and all things scary.
For me, nightmares help induce lucids too. So that makes em doubly awesome

What other people call nightmares, never bothered me much because I was always semi-lucid since there were these impossible monsters chasing me. Its always like a great adventure.

True nightmares are things that make me cry when I wake up, or things that are depressing.

Nightmares are goodtimes for sure. I have felt pain in a few of my nightmares while still in the dream and when I wake up I'm like... woah.

omg yeah those are crazy... darkness can be creep thats for sure. OMG listen to this one. I once woke up out of a deep sleep, or maybe REM sleep... whatever, and I opened my eyes and saw a figure at the end of my bed I was so scared... and I looked away and looked back, and it was still there and then I said "Hello?" I went under the blankets and composed myself and looked back out there and there was no one standing there. I saw the darkness of where the features were supposed to be as well. I was so scared, I just closed my eyes and fell asleep in fear.this happened last year and I'm 21 and I love horror movies. I wanted to literally cry. I know I was awake for sure.

I hated having nightmares. Once I learned about lucid dreaming every nightmare easily became a lucid dream, and once I got used to hoping for nightmares they stopped.

My, so many who don't hate nightmares, I wonder if its because of the thrill, exctiting situations, adrenaline, etc, etc in them. My fav kind of lucid, a nightmare one! Which is why I created that DC.

Heh. I actually talked to a friend of mine the other day who has recurring nightmares, and really suffers from them. And I told her that I think it's a shame she can't look at them like I do. Because whenever I have a "textbook" nightmare, I just think they're cool and exciting when I wake up. Like when i'm chased by a bunch of zombies, or a big hungry bear.

but then a few nights later I randomly dreamt that I killed my own brother in cold blood for some reason. And when I woke up from that dream I remembered what it feels like to have an "actual" nightmare. I was a mess the entire day after that. That made me feel bad about the fact that I had thought she could just find a way to "enjoy" her nightmares. Atleast now I can understand what she's going through. It's hard to enjoy nightmares when they project your worst inner fears.

yea those kind are kinda sad...but im more talking about the kinds where something is chasing me or any other typical nightmare...like the other night i had a non-lucid about a witch..it was very horrifying..but after i woke up..i was so pumped with adrenaline and still scared...but i thought it was awesome..like i said earlier..for me, its kinda like a haunted house ya know?

Stole the words right out of my post.

Nightmares sometimes make me lucid which is awesome, and even then its just like an adventure to me. I don't scare easily at all, in my dreams I always know that I am the master (even when I'm not lucid, its just like a sort of knowing that it can't really hurt me, etc., I have absolutely nothing to even remotely fear).

As you said, however, on very rare occasions dreams can turn into something genuinely horrible... stirring up an old, forgotten memory of something terrible in your life... making you horrified with yourself.

For example, IRL you are in love with this girl who you go to class with. She is so beautiful and friendly, you think about her every ay. You have a lot of dreams with her in them. In your dreams, you two spend time together, and each one feels like the romance of a lifetime. You just want to get lost in those dreams.

Then, one day, you have a different sort of dream.

It starts out like a lovely dream with this girl you like. You are walking on a beach with her at twilight, she looks at you and smiles that lovely smile, with that beutiful sparkle in her eye... and then, suddenly, she screams. Your blood run cold. You turn to her, and suddenly red gashes appear all over her body and the falls to gory bits right before your eyes.

      Ugggh... those ones disturb me.

It depends on the nightmare. Some nightmares are very enjoyable afterwards but some left you feel uneasy even aften waking up and that is no fun. For instance, I had a dream last month about Vladimir Putin taking a roomful of people - inclunding me - as a hostage, asking us questions and killing us if he didn't like the answer. I was really afraid during it, but waking up was a relief but also it was funny etc. But the other end is dream's like someone close to you dying or something really dark like that that gives you a disturbing feeling are not something I can enjoy.

Wow, lots of people here enjoy nightmares. I don't. But then again, I don't really count dreams as nightmares unless I'm still freaking out when I wake up. If it's scary during the dream and then I wake up thinking, "that was awesome!" it's not really a nightmare.

The only reason I like nightmares is because they make me lucid. I don't like the actual nightmare, just the lucidity after it.
