      Vividness of WILD vs. DILD?

      Hi all,

I just had a great WILD... nice and vivid.

However, it is not as vivid as the most vivid DILD I've had. It feels like I am in a deeper level of the dream already starting out.

I was wondering - is any one form of LD always more vivid?

Or is it just that I need to develop my imagination more when I am WILDing?

      thanks

For me i can't really tell difference in vividness when i use different methods, they all seem the same to me.

You can try either rubbing your hands or spinning to make your dream more vivid.

Funny, I hear a lot of people say the opposite, WILD being more vivid than DILD for them, I guess its different for everyone? Also, DILD > WILD for me too.

My first DILD was WAY vivid. Not so much afterwards though. My WILD was somewhat vivid. The same as all the other dilds.

Most of the time they seem equal vivid, but sometimes my WILDs tend to border reality. I often find myself stabilizing my WILDs more than DILDs so that could be the biggest factor.

I agree with this. During my WILDs it seems like I go through a stabilization process rather than just a technique or two. WILDs tend to be pretty unstabile upon completing the transition. This tends to make my WILDs ultra realistic. With DILDs they usually are pretty stabile anyway, so I don't go through my stabilization process as much.

I think it depends on which sleep cycle you're in as well. I've read that the last sleep cycle is more vivid than the others. Also there are many bioloigcal factors that can affect vividness. It is probably a coincidence in regards to which technique is used. B vitamins are supposed to increase vividness.

I agree with KingYoshi. When i do a WILD, i really focus on the stabilization, because for me, it is so easy to wake up right after making the transition. On the other hand, with DILD, i usually rub my hands together or feel some random object to stabilize, and that usually does the trick.

When you guys says you really focus on stabilizing... how long do you stabalize for? What process do you go through? I normally just spend 10 seconds feeling objects or rubbing my hands. Should I be doing more?

As long as it takes to get crystal clear. And remember, stabilization isn't just a one time deal. It's good to stabilize again every so often or if you feel the dream fading, or have problems with lack of control.

Upon transitioning from WILD, I take at least a couple of minutes to make sure everything is good to go. I'll start out by clearing up the dream scene. Feel some textures, imagine my room becoming clearer and clearer, etc. Then I test my motor skills to make sure there are no problems there. Then I usually test the five senses. Once all this is done (it'll only takes a couple of minutes) I head off into my dream.

Akon is exactly right. Alot of dreamers stabilize at the beginning and then rush to try and get as much done as they can before they wake up (as I did when I first started). Now I know better and I am able to consistently have long lucids. I love to use my nose pinch RC as a stabilizer. So throughout my entire dream, I am performing a nose pinch RC every few minutes (for stabilization, even if the dream is clear). If the dream begins to fade, I immediately stop whatever I am doing and go through the stabilization process. If I feel it slipping and know I won't be able to hold on, I prepare to DEILD (generally speaking). It is important to try and stay calm throughout the entire dream as well (if you are trying to lengthen your lucids anyway). Staying calm doesn't mean not having fun, just keep your emotions under control.

Yoshi, how does DEILD work anyways?

Brace yourself, wake up lay there, and imagine a dreamscene and go back in?

I've had very few WILDs, but in my experience they broke up a lot.

Perhaps, however, that had more to do with the fact that in my DILDs I more often had a specific agenda or other stabilization method. I don't remember any true WILDs I had where I had a purposeful agenda.

Lately, though, when I've been having DILDs with either no agenda but to stay aware that I'm dreaming (an attempt to make LDs a sort of "meditation" or exploration of consciousness rather than a directed adventure), or an agenda I don't have much confidence in my ability to do such as shape-shifting (which I found so frustrating recently that I decided to cultivate no-agenda lucids when I wanted to LD), they've tended to break up a lot.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.
