      LD classes at school.

Who here thinks that they should have LD classes and/or clubs at school. That would be pretty cool. LDing could be very informative about sleep and REM and could give kids something that is actually cool to learn about. It would inform people what LDing actually is, so people don't frown upon it and think it's wierd.

OMG, this would be so cool! But, in all honesty, how many people would join it? Others would think it's SO WEIRD. Some may be ok with others thinking this, but other potential members may not like it. But, something involving LD's in this way is definitly in order.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

Well LDing could be very educational and should be included in our schools.

I just filled out all the forms necessary to create the "Oneirology Club" at my school, large portion of which will be devoted to LD-ing, no we wait for the faculty to approve it (they are elgally obligated to)

      So start it

Most people have had a lucid dream. It just matters on how you present it.

I have mixed opinions on this subject... anyway...

It's the same with art, you cannot simply teach someone lucid dreaming, they must find what suits themselves. just like how art has many different art forms and techniques, so does lucid dreaming. I suppose you can teach students how to RC and WILD, but it's up to the individual to find their own technique, and become a proficient lucid dreamer.

I was always confused about the concept of art class, I mean they can give us paint and canvasses, but after that, there is nothing they can do...

I was considering running a class on this (students have the ability to run classes at my school, I dunno about yours) or at least requesting a class on the subject. I'm not very good speaking in front of large groups though. :X

Yea, students can create any club they want as long as they the signatures of at least 15 interested students, which I did. Along with some basic information.

I'll admit I had never heard of things like sleep paralysis and REM sleep before I started to read up on lucid dreaming on my own. Considering we spend a third of our lives sleeping you'd think this kinda thing should be mentioned in school somewhere. Bio maybe?

A club sounds like a good idea. Sharing stories, experiences and induction techniques with people face to face would be great fun. Part of the reason I'm on this forum is because I don't know anyone (yet) in my face-to-face life who is that into dreaming. A club would no doubt bring them all together, as well as spread awareness.

My psychology class touches on sleep and dreaming a little bit, but doesn't devote a lot to it. If its any class, dreaming should go in that one.

I doubt that there will be LD classes for now, but maybe a request for a LD club at local schools would work

Seeing how dreaming is pretty big part in psychology and if the mind in general interests you, I would suggest yes. That's what I'm taking next year. Even thinking about majoring in it.

It could at least be included in the National Curriculum under Science, if not get its own subject!

I think there needs to be some kind of educational metaphysical awareness going on in association with dreams for sure.

Although, it would have to be a very experienced instructor. Psychology classes are great, but they are so broken down into differing viewpoints over time, that your approach to dreams might be affected by whatever branch of Psychology picks up your interest. Although it's a great place to learn about the mind, consciousness etc and what makes it tick.

For example, I personally think Frued was pretty awesome at describing how our subconscious affects our conscious behavior, but his dream interpretation was abyssmal, mostly because it was based on his own experiences and viewpoints and these were all classified and labeled according to his practice. Don't get me into Jung on this one.

I don't know about you, but having someone else interpret my dreams, telling me that a car is a phalic symbol when it might just be a backround detail for some other message, (the steering wheel, the dashboard, the headlights, differant submodalities that might mean something else). I think I've learned more with self exploration and being open minded then a class could ever teach, but then I'm skeptical too.

That could be very cool. They could teach every single student, and then at the end of the year we could share tips and tricks that we discovered, if we wanted to. That would be super cool, LDing experiences would be so much better. Also, they could teach how to study in lucid dreams, so everyone would get a bit smarter, and remember more things and overall do better in school! I think LD classes would be a very nice thing for students who have trouble with school or who have phobias. I'm not saying that they can't do this now, what I'm saying is that many don't know about Lucid dreams. Well, at least this is my opinion.

For an update, the faculty is going to decide to approve or not the club this week.

Lucid Dreaming has made me want to get up in the morning. I'm not tired, i'm excited. I'm usually in a better mood and it shows in my school work.

For that very reason, it'd be a great class.

It would also help understand Psychology, and if anybody took a trip to the school counselor it would help understand you more

Dream control could be a very big part of psycology because the restrictions you have is the restictions you set for yourself because of attachments to the way you think the universe works. But when you let go of these attachments you can have ultimate control.
