Congratulations!! And as for your question, I think it's both. You can definitely learn to stabilize more efficiently with practice. Try to keep reminding yourself before bed what you aim to do, and sooner or later, it will creep into your subconscious and it will be easier to remember once you're lucid. Took me a while to learn to stabilize too. Autosuggestion and positive reinforcement work really well :3
