Can LD be bad for your health?

      Hello

Can LD be harmful in anyway? I would like to try
It but I'm concerned it could end up bad, can it make you a psycho if you get too involved and "lose it"?

How do you keep a grip on reality when dreams become so good?

      Please advise

      Short answer: No.
And you can keep a grip on reality even in a good dream by constantly reminding yourself that it's just a dream. But, the worst thing that happens if you forget is you lose your lucidity, and it becomes a nonlucid.

      Of course not.
Lucid dreaming is just being aware you are dreaming, and having the ability to dream.
It is pretty much impossible to lose touch with reality unless you lucid dream so much you don't remember your normal life. :p

I would guess that after 200 lucid dreams, your personality could have changed a bit. Wouldn't you agree?

I suppose after 200 waking days, your personality could have changed a bit, too.

LDing isn't going to turn you into a monster or remodel your personality. It's perhaps one of the safest things you can do. Go for it.

I didn't necessarily mean it would be altered in a negative way. Simply imagine the possibility that for example: seeing and talking to girls etc. in your dreams will make you less stifled in a real life social situation?

Well, Stephen LaBerge is a lot more into t than anyone else I can think of, and as far as I know he's no psycho

Really, though, there is really no way for lucid dreams to harm you...and, note, so many ways for them to help you.

That depends on the existing personality and mentality of the person. I suppose on some level it could be used as a way to build confidence, but if a person can't get past the fact that it is a dream and doesn't have to obey the laws of reality, it won't do much good at all.

Unless you have underlying issues eg. the yearning to escape reality constantly through dreaming, LDing itself won't do anything harmful.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

This might not be what you were expecting in reply to that, Puffin, but do you think that's possible? To dream forever, or to make yourself believe you're dreaming forever?

I've been trying to escape reality for a long time. It made me very unhappy. Now I've come to terms with reality to the degree that it doesn't make me crazy, but if there was an out, I'd jump on it.

I don't believe it's possible to dream forever, but many people feel dreaming's an escape from their problems, even if they only do it for a few extra hours a day. I've felt that way at one point, too. If it wasn't frowned upon and depicted as a sign of depression, I'd definitely love to spend more time asleep and dreaming. But I can't, unfortunately. And besides, I have school and stuff.

Why is it bad for you? Your body is doing it to itself basically. Its as natural as vegetables growing from the earths crust.
