A few questions (am new here)

I am new to DV and I have two questions concerning LD's.

1: In the WBTB method, I never have trouble waking up, but going back to sleep is a massive problem to me. Does anyone else have this problem and is there any way to relax and go back to sleep quickly?

2: I had one LD 2 nights ago, but I couldn't fly. I couldn't do anything that I can't in reality. Is this normal? Does it need practice?

3: Which methods did you use when you first started LDing?

      Thnx

      Hi and welcome to DV!

As for the WBTB method, try just keeping your body completely still and letting your body fall asleep while your mind stays conscious. Normally I'll count and think a mantra in between each count.

Lucid =/= control over your dream. The fact that you couldn't fly is relatively normal. I suggest reading our tutorial on dream control, among the many other great tutorials on this site.

When I first started having lucid dreams I relied mainly on doing frequent reality checks, and did one in my first lucid dream.

      Again, welcome to DV!

WBTB= If you find it hard to go back to sleep then try meditating or visualizing a dream, you can also read.

It is normall to not be able to control your lucid dreams whe you first start out. This will go away after some time. I also suggest the tutorial that cacophony mentioned.

The method i used to start LDing was DEILD but thats not really normal. I would suggest you doing MILD or DILD. Here are the tutorials,

I just found this thread...Yungen, you may already be past this point, but I'll try to help from experience anyway.

*I can't help much on the WBTB, seeing as I've never actually accomplished one. Still, I have the same difficulty with going back to sleep...
*Yes, you need to practice before you will really have control of the limitless power that comes with lucidity. I managed to levitate in my first normal-length lucid dream by closing my eyes and telling myself that I'd float to the ceiling. I opened my eyes and---whoa!---the ceiling is only a few inches above my head! Note that this room was about twenty feet tall.
*I started my lucid dreaming with what I call the DMILD technique: basically a mix of DILD and MILD. I repeated a mantra as I fell asleep, as well as occasionally during the day, but still did the random reality checks for the DILD. That's how I started, and after a few WBTB failures, I reverted back to the technique and am using it currently. I repeat my mantra in any idle time where I don't need to concentrate, and a reality check typically accompanies the first few sentences of every group of "mantra chants."

Sorry for making the post so long...even about three weeks after you asked, hopefully I could help.
